On its official fanpage, Vietnam Suzuki has just revealed a sneak peek of an upcoming car model’s front end.

While the image doesn’t reveal much, the overall shape and design of the main lighting cluster have led many to believe that the car in question is the new-generation Suzuki Swift.

Under the post, the majority of customers left comments expressing their hope that this will be the Suzuki Swift equipped with a hybrid engine, in line with the strategy that the Japanese car manufacturer previously implemented with the Suzuki Ertiga and Suzuki XL7 Hybrid in Vietnam.

In an interview with Tri thức – Znews, a sales consultant at a Suzuki dealership in the southern region confirmed that the new-generation Suzuki Swift will soon be launched for Vietnamese customers.

“Detailed information about the new Suzuki Swift is still scarce. At the moment, the dealership no longer has the old Swift in stock and is waiting for the new Swift to arrive for sale,” the consultant said.

Based on a series of images from international markets, it can be confirmed that the car just revealed by Vietnam Suzuki is indeed the new Swift. It is likely that the Suzuki Swift, upon its return to Vietnam, will be imported from Japan and feature a mild hybrid (MHEV) engine.

If this information is accurate, the new Suzuki Swift in Vietnam will undergo significant changes in both its exterior and engine.

The new Suzuki Swift’s dimensions remain the same, with lengths of 3,860 mm, widths of 1,735 mm, heights of 1,495 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.

At the front, the new Suzuki Swift features lower-positioned headlights, a larger grille, and newly designed LED taillights.

Inside the cabin, the most notable difference lies in the cluster that controls the air conditioning system and the floating 9.7-inch screen. The car still uses a manual handbrake, and it is likely that only the CVT automatic transmission version will be available in Vietnam.

Under the hood, the new Suzuki Swift may be equipped with a 1.2L 3-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 82 horsepower and a peak torque of 112 Nm. This engine is combined with an electric motor (3.1 horsepower, 60 Nm) and a small battery pack.

If the Suzuki Swift returns to Vietnam with a hybrid powertrain, the Japanese car manufacturer will have another green car in its passenger car lineup, in addition to the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid.

The other car in Suzuki’s passenger car lineup in Vietnam is the Jimny off-road SUV, imported from Japan, which is currently priced at 789 million VND.

In Japan, the Suzuki Swift Hybrid with front-wheel drive is priced at 2,167,000 yen, equivalent to 15,060 USD or about 390 million VND. However, since it will be imported from Japan, the price of the Suzuki Swift upon its return to Vietnam may be significantly higher than the converted figure mentioned above.

Currently, the B-segment hatchback market in Vietnam, where the Suzuki Swift belongs, is relatively sparse. After the departure of the Toyota Yaris, Vietnamese customers only have a few hatchback options in this segment, including the Mazda2 Sport (537-544 million VND) and the BYD Dolphin (659 million VND).

Before its sales were halted around September last year, the Suzuki Swift accumulated sales of 225 units. The Swift’s sales in 2024 were even lower than those of the “playful” Jimny (437 units).
