The Ferrari 458 is the last of the brand’s supercars to feature a naturally aspirated V8 engine, and as such, this prancing horse is highly sought-after by Vietnamese tycoons. One businessman from the Central Highlands region has reportedly snapped up all available 458 Italia and Spider models, including the high-performance Speciale edition. This makes spotting a Ferrari 458 Italia on the streets of Vietnam a rare occurrence.
It was believed that the Ferrari 458 Italia would remain locked away in garages, rarely seen on the roads, but one has recently emerged in Ho Chi Minh City. It is understood that a car enthusiast from the city purchased the 458 from a Hanoi-based businessman and is now enjoying driving it.
The owner of this Ferrari 458 Italia took the supercar on a journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet, in the province of Lam Dong. The car traversed the beautiful coastal road after speeding along the Ho Chi Minh City Long Thanh Dau Giay Phan Thiet Highway.
The Ferrari 458 Italia made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 19, 2009, as a replacement for the Ferrari F430. In 2015, it passed the baton to the 488 GTB (Gran Turismo Berlinetta), which was then succeeded by the F8 series, continuing the legacy of powerful V8 engines.
In Ferrari’s first official announcement about the car, the 458 was described as the successor to the F430, but with an entirely new design. It incorporated technologies derived from the company’s Formula 1 experience, including a body computer system developed by Magneti Marelli.
In keeping with Ferrari tradition, the car’s body was designed by Pininfarina under the direction of Donato Coco, Ferrari’s design director in 2009. The interior design of the Ferrari 458 Italia was the work of Bertrand Rapatel, a French automotive designer and Ferrari’s interior design director.
The exterior styling and features of the 458 Italia are designed for aerodynamic efficiency, generating downforce of 140 kg at 200 km/h. Notably, the front grille features small deformable wings that lower at high speeds to reduce drag.
The interior of the Ferrari 458 Italia was designed with input from former Ferrari Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher, adopting a layout similar to that of a race car. The steering wheel integrates several controls usually found on the dashboard or gear lever, such as turn signals and headlights.
Finally, the Ferrari 458 Italia driven by Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu on the streets of Saigon is powered by a V8 engine with a displacement of 4.5 liters. This naturally aspirated engine produces a maximum output of 570 horsepower and a peak torque of 540 Nm.
Combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Ferrari 458 Italia accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of approximately 325 km/h.
