Mazda has just officially unveiled the new CX-5, marking the highly anticipated return of the brand’s best-selling CUV ever.

The new Mazda CX-5 has a more substantial and sturdy appearance due to its refined dimensions. Accordingly, the length of the vehicle has been increased by 114 mm, the wheelbase by 76 mm, and the width by 13 mm compared to its predecessor.

Remaining faithful to the Kodo Design philosophy, the 2026 Mazda CX-5 introduces significant changes to its looks. The front of the car impresses with its expanded Signature Wing-style grille, sharp LED headlights, and a sportier-designed front bumper.

The body lines are sharply defined, and the longer rear doors facilitate improved ingress and egress for rear-seat passengers.

At the rear, sleek LED taillights are combined with the word “MAZDA” replacing the traditional logo, along with dual exhaust tips and gloss black accents, creating a modern look while retaining its distinctive character.

The interior of the 2026 CX-5 embodies Mazda’s “less is more” philosophy. The modern tiered dashboard design, featuring a 15.6-inch touchscreen display with an integrated Google operating system that supports Google Maps and Google Play, is a prominent highlight.

Mazda continues to pursue the trend of “minimizing physical buttons,” shifting most controls to the touchscreen. The vehicle is also equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster, a newly designed steering wheel featuring the word “Mazda,” a panoramic sunroof, upgraded seats, and a seven-color interior ambient lighting system.

Thanks to the increased overall dimensions, the space for the rear seats has been significantly expanded, offering more legroom, headroom, and a longer cargo area (increased by 51 mm). This is a significant advantage for family customers, who are the primary target of this segment.

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 is powered by the same 2.5L naturally aspirated SkyActiv-G gasoline engine, producing 187 horsepower and 251 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system as standard.

Although the technical specifications remain unchanged, Mazda states that the powertrain has been fine-tuned to enhance smoothness, responsiveness, and refinement during operation.

Notably, Mazda has confirmed that a hybrid version of the vehicle will be launched in 2027, employing a new engine technology named SkyActiv-Z, promising improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, aligning with the global trend of electrification.

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 will officially go on sale in the US market early next year. While the exact price has not been disclosed, it is likely to be slightly higher than the current model’s starting price of $28,770 (approximately â‚«751,27 million).
