For the months of June and July 2025, the market witnessed a significant downward trend in prices for many B-segment sedans, with starting prices below 400 million VND.
Along with deep discount programs, the gap between B-segment and A-segment sedans is narrowing, putting pressure on the urban small car segment.
Mazda2 currently offers the most attractive discounts among B-segment sedans during this period. At dealerships, the standard (AT) version is now priced at only 399 million VND. The remaining versions also come with significant discounts: the Deluxe version is priced at 453 million, the Luxury version at 487 million, and the Luxury Sport version at 529 million VND.
The Mazda2, which is imported from Thailand and available in both sedan and hatchback (Sport) body styles, was once positioned higher than competitors such as the Toyota Vios or Honda City, with a starting price of over 500 million VND. However, to compete better in the context of a stagnant market, the Mazda2 has undergone a significant price adjustment in 2025.
Compared to the Mazda2, the Mitsubishi Attrage currently has a lower starting price thanks to the option of a manual transmission. The MT version of this Thai-imported model is now supported with a 100% registration fee reduction, bringing the actual price down to around 342 million VND, excluding gift accessories worth more than 10 million VND. The premium CVT Premium version is priced at 465.5 million VND after discounts, along with gifts worth 20 million VND.
The Attrage is a pure sedan, without a hatchback variant, and uses either a manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT). Despite its competitive pricing and strong promotions, this model still struggles in terms of sales when compared to its rivals.
Along with the Mazda2 and Attrage, the Kia Soluto is another B-segment sedan with a price tag below 450 million VND. This model has the advantage of local assembly, with a listed price starting at 386 million VND for the MT version. Currently, this version is discounted to 376 million VND under the company’s program. The two higher versions, MT Deluxe and AT Deluxe, remain at the original prices of 397 million and 422 million VND, respectively, with no official promotions.
The Soluto is solely offered in a sedan body style, targeting mainstream customers who need a car for daily commuting or business services.
With continuous promotions, B-segment sedans like the Attrage, Soluto, and Mazda2 are putting immense pressure on A-segment cars. Currently, the Hyundai Grand i10 – one of the popular A-segment models – has a listed price of 360 million VND, but after discounts, it goes down to around 324 million. The Kia Morning MT version is now offered at a discounted price of 343 million, which is almost equivalent to the Attrage MT.
However, as of the end of June 2025, the Attrage‘s sales figures were still significantly lower than those of the Grand i10 or Toyota Wigo, only slightly higher than the Kia Morning. The Soluto also doesn’t stand out in terms of sales performance when compared to similarly priced small cars. In this group, only the Mazda2 has recorded exceptional sales figures.
