According to CarBuzz, the ultra-luxury Century line was first introduced by Toyota in 1967 and is currently available in both limousine sedan and SUV variants. The Century has just received a valuable upgrade to its cabin, enhancing privacy for rear passengers.

On the SUV variant, the Toyota Century is equipped with three levels of window tinting. In the traditional mode, the windows are clear, similar to most automobiles on the market. The semi-transparent mode provides a softer light flow in the cabin, while the opaque mode functions like a curtain.

CarBuzz also reports that this type of glass can act as a one-way mirror, preventing outsiders from peering into the vehicle. The electronic glass upgrade is offered as an additional option and can also be retrofitted to older models.

The Toyota Century was initially introduced to commemorate the 100th birthday of Sakichi Toyoda, the founder of the Toyota Group. Since then, only three generations of the Century have been unveiled by the Japanese automaker.

The phoenix logo at the front of the Century is a testament to the craftsmanship of Toyota’s most skilled artisans. To ensure exclusivity, Toyota produces only 50 Centuries per month, all of which are sold to Japanese customers. The upgraded SUV variant has a starting price of 27 million yen, which is approximately 186,300 USD.

On the SUV variant, Toyota focuses on “human-centric” rear-seat comfort, offering a full-recline function, active noise cancellation, and a massage system to relax passengers during long journeys.

The Century’s torsional rigidity has been improved thanks to the TGNA platform. A hybrid 3.5L V6 engine was chosen for the Century SUV, not only for its fuel efficiency but also for its smooth performance.

The rear doors open to a maximum of 75 degrees, facilitating easier entry and exit. The Rear Comfort driving mode is also featured in the Century, allowing adjustments to the suspension, brake force distribution, and throttle response to reduce vibrations transmitted into the cabin.
