The 2001 Ducati Monster S4, a bold fusion of Street Tracker and Cafe Racer styles, has been masterfully reborn by P.M. Motorbike in Italy.

The Ducati Monster is a beloved motorcycle among the global custom community. Its signature trellis frame, powerful V-Twin engine, and compact design provide an ideal foundation for various styling approaches. Among them, the Monster S4 customized by P.M. Motorbike stands out for its unique blend of two seemingly contrasting styles: the rugged appeal of Street Tracker and the sleek classic elegance of Cafe Racer.

Pier and Marco, the founders of P.M. Motorbike, chose a 2001 Monster S4 – a version equipped with an engine derived from the iconic Ducati 916, as the starting point for this project. Notably, every detail on the bike has been deeply customized, going beyond mere aesthetics.

The rear frame has undergone the most significant transformation. The custom shop has shortened and fabricated a new subframe with a pointed tail design, integrating LED taillights, sleek side panels, and a minimalist two-piece seat. The new rear end evokes Cafe Racer styling while incorporating the minimalistic essence of Street Tracker bikes.

At the rear, the original single-sided swingarm has been replaced with a single-sided unit from the Ducati 748, a complex modification due to structural differences. Along with it, the rear axle, drive chain, and brake assembly are also sourced from this sportbike, enhancing aesthetics and improving the bike’s stability and performance.

Up front, the original forks have been retained but fine-tuned for enhanced visual impact. The fender has been refreshed with lightweight carbon fiber material. The old halogen headlight has been replaced with a modern LED unit, directly mounted to the lower triple clamp via a custom-made bracket. Above it, the original instrument cluster has been removed, making way for a single, compact Daytona gauge.

The handlebars are a key feature of this customization, utilizing clip-on bars with a raised position, creating a neutral riding posture that blends sportiness and comfort. The brake and clutch levers have been upgraded to CNC-machined units, complemented by billet fluid reservoirs that enhance aesthetics and operational sensitivity. CNC-machined aluminum footpegs from the Monster S4R have been incorporated, blending brand identity with improved riding feel.

At the heart of this machine is the iconic V-Twin 916cc engine, largely retaining its original configuration but enhanced with a pod air filter system and a QD Exhaust sports exhaust. Additionally, P.M. Motorbike has fitted an electronic quickshifter for faster and more precise gear shifts, a rare feature on classic-styled customs.

The engine’s exterior is accentuated with a carbon fiber cam belt cover and an exposed clutch cover on the right, showcasing the vibrant mechanical movement, a detail cherished by Ducati enthusiasts.

The entire bike is finished in a bronze hue, a rare choice for Ducati customs, exuding sophistication and uniqueness. Accentuating this color scheme are gold-plated components, including the brake assembly, rearsets, and fork legs. The classic Ducati logo takes center stage on the fuel tank, accompanied by “S4” graphics on both sides, paying homage to the Monster S4’s lineage.

This P.M. Motorbike-customized Ducati Monster S4 exemplifies boundless creativity in the world of custom motorcycles. Beyond aesthetic transformation, the bike has undergone comprehensive technical upgrades, delivering a distinct riding experience while preserving the essence of Ducati.
