Honkon, a 33-year-old music producer from Japan, had saved up for ten years and finally achieved his dream of buying a brand new Ferrari 458 Spider, as reported by Oddity Central.
However, an unexpected turn of events on April 16 turned his dream into ashes – literally. Just an hour after taking possession of the car, it burst into flames and was reduced to a charred wreck.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Honkon shared his unfortunate story, which quickly gained traction online. On the day he received the car, Honkon was driving his new sports car on the Shuto Expressway in Tokyo when he noticed a plume of white smoke.
Assuming the smoke was coming from a neighboring vehicle, Honkon was surprised to see the smoke persist even after the other car had moved ahead. He quickly pulled over and called the fire department.

For the next 20 minutes, Honkon could only watch helplessly as his dream car was engulfed in flames. “I think I’m the only person in Japan this has happened to. I spent 43 million yen ($306,000) and all I got was this picture,” he wrote on X, alongside an image of his burning car.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department reported no signs of collision on Honkon’s Ferrari, but an investigation is ongoing. It is believed that the fire originated from the car’s engine, although the exact cause remains unknown.
Despite his sadness over the unfortunate incident, Honkon expressed gratitude for his safety and the fact that the car did not explode, causing potential harm to others.
