Mazda has just confirmed that it will soon launch the 2025 CX-80 in the Southeast Asian market.

This three-row SUV, the Mazda CX-80, was showcased at the KLIMS Motor Show last year and officially launched globally in April 2024. It belongs to Mazda’s premium product group, developed on the Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture platform with a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.

The CX-80 has a length of 4,995 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, a height of 1,710 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,120 mm. Compared to the CX-60, it is 250 mm longer, 24 mm taller, and notably, has a wheelbase that is also 250 mm longer. This makes the CX-80 more spacious than both the CX-8 and CX-9 currently sold in Malaysia, which have a wheelbase of 2,930 mm.

Customers can choose between a six-seat (2-2-2 with business-class seats in the second row) or seven-seat (2-3-2 with a 60:40 split-folding second row) configuration. The third row of seats is a 50:50 split-folding type.

It is unclear what engine the 2025 Mazda CX-80 will feature when it launches in Malaysia. Internationally, the CX-80 offers the following engine options:

The standard version is equipped with the e-Skyactiv D hybrid system, featuring a 3.3-liter six-cylinder diesel engine that produces 251 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. Mazda’s M Hybrid Boost 48V mild-hybrid system ensures the vehicle’s green credentials. This powertrain is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The higher-end version features the e-Skyactiv PHEV plug-in hybrid system, delivering 323 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. This system combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor and a 17.8 kWh battery pack, allowing for a pure electric range of 60 km.

The Mazda CX-80 is expected to be priced higher in Malaysia than the CX-60 (1.25 billion VND) due to its larger size, despite having a similar exterior and interior design.
