According to Ride Apart, Honda is strategizing to electrify its entire two-wheeler product range in the coming years. Specifically, the Japanese automaker aims to have a fully electric vehicle fleet by 2040.
Currently, Honda Powersports hasn’t introduced any electric motorcycles to its US product lineup. However, Honda’s report on Electrification Initiative Orientation and Investment Strategy reveals their intention to go all-electric by 2040.
Ride Apart emphasizes that this goal encompasses Honda’s entire two-wheeler range. The report affirms Honda’s belief that EVs are the most efficient solution for small vehicles like motorcycles and cars.
“Honda’s electrification target remains to have EVs and fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) account for 100% of its global sales by 2040,” quoted Ride Apart from Honda’s electrification strategy report.

Honda’s statement also highlights the importance of the Honda Mobile Power Pack e: (HMPP) battery system in its upcoming electrification strategy.
“Honda will introduce an ultra-small mobility product equipped with four HMPPs for the Japanese market before the end of the 2026 fiscal year,” the Honda report stated.
Similarly, Honda announced that an electric motorcycle powered by two HMPPs will be launched this year.
Honda also mentioned synthetic e-Fuel as an attractive option but considered the current state of the technology insufficient to serve as a foundation for future products.
Last year, Honda unveiled the EM1 e: electric motorcycle for the European market, equipped with an HMPP battery pack. It offers a maximum range of 25.7 miles (41.3 km) and a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h).
At the Japan Mobility Show 2023, Honda showcased the SC e: concept, which bore a resemblance to the Honda SH scooter.
