On August 26, 2025, the final Nissan GT-R rolled off the production line at the Tochigi plant in Japan, marking the end of an 18-year journey for the iconic supercar from the “land of the rising sun.”

The last GT-R, a high-end T-Spec edition, sports the signature Midnight Purple paint job. This particular car will be delivered to a customer in Japan.

Introduced in late 2007, the Nissan GT-R R35 was positioned as a challenger to the Porsche 911, offering comparable performance at a more accessible price point. It is built on the Premium Midship platform and features an all-wheel-drive system with a 2+2 seating configuration.

Powering all variants of the GT-R is the hand-assembled VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 engine, crafted by a dedicated team of nine Takumi engineers over the past 18 years.

When it debuted in 2007, the GT-R produced 473 horsepower. Since 2017, output has been bumped up to 562 horsepower, with Nismo models delivering 592 horsepower.

Even though production has ceased, a US car sales website still advertises the 2024 Nissan GT-R in Premium AWD, Skyline Edition AWD, T-Spec AWD, and Nismo AWD limited editions. Prices range from $121,090 to $221,090 (approximately 3.19 to 5.82 billion VND), excluding shipping fees.

Over its 18-year lifespan, the GT-R R35 has become a global icon of Japanese supercars, dominating both the streets and the race tracks. It embodies Nissan’s philosophy of delivering high performance at a reasonable price.

The end of the GT-R R35 production run not only closes a glorious chapter but also fuels anticipation for the next-generation GT-R in the era of electrification.
