In just under 18 hours since its launch, the Xiaomi YU7 electric vehicle witnessed an astonishing 240,000 orders. This overwhelming response far exceeded the company’s capacity, leading to a delay in vehicle deliveries by 56 to 59 weeks.

Amidst a wave of customer complaints, founder and CEO Lei Jun surprisingly advised those in urgent need of a vehicle to consider alternative options, including the Xiaomi YU7‘s direct competitor – the Tesla Model Y.

The YU7 is Xiaomi’s first electric SUV, offered in three variants with prices ranging from 253,500 to 329,900 NDT (approximately 922,89 – 1,2 billion VND). With such a spectacular start, the Xiaomi YU7 is expected to further boost the strong growth of the Chinese tech giant’s electric vehicle division in 2025.

While the car is currently only sold domestically, Xiaomi is gearing up for global expansion, setting its sights on Tesla and other major brands.
