VinFast is gearing up to launch a special edition of its VF 9 electric SUV, with ballistic protection capabilities, courtesy of INKAS Armored Vehicle Manufacturing.
According to initial information, the VinFast VF 9 special edition will feature not only a refined exterior but also an enhanced cockpit aimed at the ultra-luxury segment. The highlight is its ballistic protection, meeting international standards, equivalent to VR7-level protection – capable of safeguarding against rifle fire and grenades. In real-world tests, INKAS-armored vehicles have withstood hundreds of rounds of ammunition, various types of grenades, and powerful explosives.
Established in 2000, INKAS is a subsidiary of the INKAS Group, a global leader in security solutions, specializing in vehicle armoring and manufacturing. Their diverse portfolio includes cash-in-transit vehicles, armored buses, luxury limousines, SUVs, sedans, and tactical vehicles for special forces.
Among their notable projects, INKAS has armored familiar vehicles such as the Mercedes-AMG G63, Maybach, Lexus LX 600, Toyota Land Cruiser 300, Cadillac Escalade, Range Rover, Bentley Bentayga, and BMW X7. These vehicles are upgraded to various safety standards, with the most common being VPAM BRV VR7 Edition 3 – capable of withstanding 7.62 x 51mm and 5.56 x 45mm ammunition.
INKAS’s reliability is evident in their rigorous testing. One of their armored Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles withstood over 780 rounds of ammunition from various firearms, 6 DM51 grenades on the roof, 4 under the vehicle, 2 DM31 mines, and an explosion equivalent to 15kg of TNT at a distance of just 2 meters.
The collaboration between VinFast and INKAS promises to deliver a VF 9 special edition that not only exudes class in the ultra-luxury segment but also showcases the capability to manufacture armored electric vehicles – a domain traditionally considered the “privilege” of top global automotive brands.
