What Price Drop Can We Expect on American-Imported Ford Cars in Vietnam?

The automotive community is abuzz with excitement as news breaks that the United States and Vietnam have successfully negotiated tariff rates. This paves the way for more affordable American-made vehicles, and Ford enthusiasts are particularly eager to get their hands on models like the Bronco, Explorer, and Mustang Mach-e.

Below is a list of highly anticipated Ford SUVs and muscle cars, along with estimated pricing, now that tariff barriers are no longer an issue. Tri Thức – Znews assumes a 0% import tax while retaining special consumption taxes and other business expenses for the following calculations.

Ford Explorer

The Ford Explorer has a long history in Vietnam, previously offered as an official import. However, after clearing out inventory with VINs from 2023-2024, Ford temporarily removed this large SUV from its product lineup. According to a consultant who spoke with Tri Thức – Znews, this move is likely in preparation for the introduction of a new version later this year.

Before its departure from the market, the Explorer was priced at 2.099 billion VND for the sole Limited 2.3L variant. With the potential reduction in import taxes, this SUV could see a more competitive price point when it returns to challenge its rivals in the same segment.

In the US, the new Explorer is priced between $41,745 and $56,465 depending on the trim level and engine configuration. If imported to Vietnam with waived import duties, the large SUV’s price could range from 1.7 to 2.3 billion VND.

Ford Mustang Mach-E

The introduction of the Mustang Mach-E in Vietnam is almost certain, as Ford’s local website has already featured this electric crossover coupe in its product lineup.

The Mach-E is equipped with one or two electric motors, depending on the configuration. The top-of-the-line GT and GT Performance variants in the US feature dual motors and all-wheel drive, delivering an impressive 480 horsepower.

In the US, the Mach-E is priced from $41,990 to $65,390. If officially imported to Vietnam with reduced import duties, the price of this electric vehicle could drop to a range of 1.2 to 2 billion VND.

This pricing would be far more attractive than the previous privately imported Mach-E models that entered Vietnam during 2022-2023. One such example was a GT Performance variant that carried a price tag exceeding 3 billion VND.

Ford Mustang

With the Mustang Mach-E likely to be introduced officially, there’s a good chance that the iconic Mustang could also make its way to Vietnam as an official import. The current Mustang, belonging to the seventh generation (S650), was launched in 2023 and offers a total of six engine options, ranging from a 2.3L to a 5.0L V8.

In the US, the Ford Mustang is priced between $30,920 and $63,265. With waived import duties, this legendary muscle car could enter the Vietnamese market with an estimated starting price of 2 billion VND.

Ford Bronco

According to multiple sources, the Ford Bronco may be the next SUV that Ford brings to Vietnam.

Although this information has not been officially confirmed, it has sparked excitement among off-road enthusiasts. The Bronco has long been a dream car for many off-road enthusiasts due to its rugged design and powerful V6 engine in the higher-end variant.

In the US, the Bronco is offered in seven different variants, including 2-door and 4-door options, and engine choices ranging from a 2.5L to a supercharged 3.0L V6 that produces 418 horsepower.

Pricing for the Bronco varies significantly depending on the trim level, ranging from $39,890 to $91,930. If imported to Vietnam with waived import duties, the SUV could be priced between 1.7 and 4 billion VND.
