According to a report by the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), the combined sales of its five members in the Vietnamese market during Q2 reached 603,127 units, a slight decrease from Q1 but 2.41% higher than the same period last year.

VAMM’s five members include Honda Vietnam, Suzuki Vietnam, SYM Vietnam, and Yamaha Motor Vietnam. VAMM clarifies that the sales figures represent the total units sold by all five members in Vietnam, excluding production numbers and exports.

Previously, VAMM reported Q1 sales of 603,745 units. This brings the total motorcycle consumption in Vietnam since the beginning of the year to over 1.2 million units, averaging more than 6,630 motorcycles sold daily.

In 2023, VAMM reported over 2.5 million motorcycles sold in Vietnam, a significant decline from the 3 million units recorded in 2022.

VAMM’s data also reveals that Vietnamese consumers purchased over 1.22 million motorcycles in the first half of 2023, compared to nearly 1.3 million in the second half of 2022. This indicates a slowdown in motorcycle sales in Vietnam during the first half of this year.

The Vietnamese motorcycle market is expected to rebound in Q3 or early Q4. The period from July to early October coincides with the back-to-school season, traditionally one of the busiest times for motorcycle sales in Vietnam.

Recently, Honda launched a new version of the Wave Alpha and introduced new color options for the Honda Super Cub. In early June, the Honda Air Blade 2025 was unveiled, followed by the Yamaha Lexi 155 VAA’s debut in the Vietnamese market.

In addition to traditional scooters and motorcycles, Vietnamese consumers now have access to electric motorcycles from brands like VinFast, Yadea, DatBike, and Pega.
