Italian racing driver Fabio Barone has built his career chasing records in places where most wouldn’t dare walk their dog. From desert rallies to cliffside sprints, he’s always on the hunt for the next audacious challenge. This time, he’s shifted gears toward something more nautical.
Barone piloted a custom Ferrari SF90 Stradale onto the deck of the Nave Trieste, a colossal Italian Navy aircraft carrier, peacefully anchored in the Mediterranean. While most might see a warship and think “defense strategy” or “naval operations,” Barone saw a racetrack—a perilously short one that could send both car and driver overboard if not handled perfectly.
Record-Breaking Speed: Driver Hits 101.9 MPH on Aircraft Carrier in 986 HP Ferrari
The Nave Trieste’s deck stretches approximately 807 feet (236 meters), which sounds ample—until you try launching a 986-horsepower Ferrari to top speed and stopping it before it plunges into the sea.
Barone had roughly 205 meters to complete his mission: accelerate, hit record-breaking velocity, and brake with pinpoint precision. This wasn’t a drag race against another car but a battle against gravity, friction, and the unforgiving margin for error.
Yet, Fabio Barone pulled it off. The Ferrari roared across the deck, hitting a staggering 101.9 mph (164 km/h) before stopping mere meters from the edge. The fastest speed ever recorded by a car on an aircraft carrier now belongs to this fearless driver.
This isn’t Barone’s first dance with the sea. Just over a year ago, in July 2024, he pulled a similar stunt on another Italian Navy vessel, the Giuseppe Garibaldi. That carrier, an older model, offered even less room to maneuver at just 570.8 feet (174 meters).
Back then, Barone hit 94.4 mph (152 km/h)—an impressive feat given the tight space and the fact that braking too late would’ve turned his Ferrari into an impromptu submarine.
But the Nave Trieste gave him the runway to push further. With a longer deck and refined techniques from his team, Barone shattered his own record.
Not All Ferraris Appreciate in Value: Some Models Can Drop in Price Significantly.
The owner of this stunning Ferrari SF90 Stradale has just sold the supercar for a price of $485,000 – a significant drop of $278,000 from its original listing price. This depreciation is a rare occurrence for such a prestigious vehicle, and it has certainly raised a few eyebrows in the automotive enthusiast community.
