The VinFast VF 8 continues to create a buzz three years after its initial release, thanks to its modern design, powerful performance, and unparalleled after-sales service. Now, with numerous upgrades, this 5-seat electric SUV further solidifies its position as the “segment leader” in the 1 billion VND price range.

VF 8: The All-Round High Achiever

Mr. Hoàng Hải (Hanoi), one of the first customers to own the VF 8 and now an owner of the VF 9, expressed his surprise at the transformation of this Vietnamese D-SUV after three years.

For him, the timeless European design of the VF 8 has always been a significant advantage. However, in the current version, the refinement is even more evident. “The joints, such as the air vents, now look much sleeker,” Mr. Hải noted.

Additionally, he mentioned that the suspension system now feels more stable and robust. Even in the rear seats, the ride is noticeably smoother and more comfortable. Moreover, with the new CATL battery, which is lighter yet offers a longer range, the D-SUV from VinFast has significantly reduced its weight. This change has an immediate impact. “The car feels much more agile,” Mr. Hải enthusiastically shared while driving the 2025 VF 8.

The VF 8 also showcases the strengths of VinFast electric vehicles: continuous software updates and increasing intelligence over time. Specifically, Mr. Hải noted that compared to three years ago, the software system on the VF 8 has made significant strides. The central screen interface has been refreshed, aligning with other products in the VinFast ecosystem, creating a more modern and seamless experience.

“From a newcomer, the VF 8 has quickly become a star, a fully-fledged electric SUV that balances design, performance, and technology. With over 402 horsepower, advanced safety features, and smart technology, the VF 8 is an unbeatable choice in the 5-seat SUV segment,” Mr. Hải evaluated.

Furthermore, with a dense network of charging stations and numerous fast-charging points, VF 8 owners like Mr. Hải can simply “get in and drive,” fully confident in the nationwide coverage of the V-Green system.

“If the first version of the VF 8 was a ‘good student,’ the current version deserves to be called an ‘all-round high achiever,'” Mr. Hải concluded.

Operating Costs Near Zero: VF 8’s Unmatched Advantage

Not only has the product been improved, but the VF 8 is also currently offering a rare ownership opportunity for Vietnamese consumers.

The Eco and Plus versions are now priced at 1.019 billion VND and 1.199 billion VND (including battery), respectively. Thanks to the complete exemption from registration fees—a privilege exclusive to electric vehicles—buyers save over 100 million VND compared to gasoline cars in the same price range.

Moreover, VinFast has launched a rare “combo offer”: a 4% discount under the “Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future” program (3rd edition); a 70 million VND support for customers trading in gasoline cars for electric ones; and an additional 50 million VND for registering license plates in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. When combined, these offers can total up to 168 million VND, bringing the actual on-road price of the VF 8 below 1 billion VND.

When compared to gasoline-powered SUVs in the same D-SUV segment, the difference becomes even more pronounced. A Hyundai Santa Fe diesel or Toyota Fortuner gasoline model currently has an on-road price ranging from 1.2 to 1.5 billion VND, with an output of only about 180-200 horsepower, monthly fuel costs of 6-7 million VND, and significantly higher maintenance expenses compared to electric vehicles.

In contrast, the VF 8 boasts a maximum output of 402 horsepower—double that of popular competitors—along with an advanced ADAS safety system and numerous segment-leading smart features.

Beyond pricing, operating costs are nearing zero thanks to the privilege of free charging until June 30, 2027, and significantly lower maintenance costs compared to gasoline vehicles, which is an absolute advantage of electric cars. Additionally, the VF 8 enjoys the best warranty policy on the market: 10 years or 200,000 km for both the battery and the vehicle. This is a “shield” that protects the long-term value of the asset for customers.

“The VF 8 was already a great buy, and now it’s even more so. Those driving gasoline cars who spend millions on fuel each month will likely be ‘shocked’ when switching to a VinFast electric vehicle, where they won’t spend a dime. Once they get used to it, they’ll definitely never want to go back to gasoline cars,” Mr. Hải affirmed.
