VinFast’s Hai Phong Factory Tour Leaves Philippine Media in Awe of Vietnam’s Automotive Vision
“Proud and Excited”
“Stepping into VinFast’s colossal complex in Hai Phong, you instantly witness the future of Vietnam’s automotive industry taking shape,” remarked journalist Enrique Garcia in his feature for the renowned Daily Tribune. Garcia was among the Philippine media representatives who recently toured the Vietnamese automaker’s state-of-the-art facility on Cat Hai Island.
Garcia was impressed by the factory’s vast 335-hectare footprint, completed in just 21 months. The facility operates seamlessly with thousands of robotic welders and stampers, alongside advanced digital monitoring systems from Siemens and SAP. He noted that every process is designed for swift error detection and resolution.
“During our visit, we witnessed the seamless integration of technical expertise and environmental goals,” Garcia wrote.
For Paul Reyes, a Manila-based owner of a VF 3, the tour marked his first glimpse into the birthplace of his beloved mini SUV. Having driven over 10,000 kilometers, he expressed newfound admiration for the brand. “I’ve always been curious about the VF 3’s production process, and seeing this high-tech facility firsthand was incredible,” he said. He was particularly struck by the near-total automation across the factory.
“Experiencing it all made me feel proud and excited to be part of Vingroup and the VinFast community,” he added.
For Paul, Garcia, and many others in the Philippine media, VinFast embodies Vietnam’s pioneering spirit—a young brand daring to dream big and prove its capabilities. In the first three quarters of 2025, VinFast became the first automaker in history to surpass 100,000 sales in Vietnam, leading the market for nearly a year.
VinFast’s Irreplicable Identity
While the factory wowed visitors with its scale and technology, test drives sealed the deal with their real-world performance—smooth acceleration, precise handling, and a comfortable ride in the on-site test area.
Photographer Jonathan de Guzman, who visited with his wife, praised the VF 6’s driving experience. “It’s incredibly comfortable with impressive speed, perfect for daily use. I could drive for hours without fatigue,” he shared. He was also impressed by the HUD display and extended battery range.
Racer and YouTuber Carl South Scene found VinFast’s electric vehicles refreshingly engaging: “The VF 6 and VF 3 match my style—light, fast, and intuitive. They don’t feel ‘soulless’ like many EVs.” Carl plans to launch the Philippines’ first VinFast racing team, aiming to set electric vehicle records at Batangas circuit. As a car modification expert, he praised VinFast’s build quality: “Many cars look good but feel hollow when you close the door. Not these—the VF 6 is solid and meticulously assembled.”
Journalist Paul Espino highlighted VinFast’s unique identity: “From design to driving feel, VinFast stands out without imitating anyone. That’s remarkable for such a young brand.” He believes models like the VF 9 showcase Vietnam’s creativity on the global industrial stage.
Enrique Garcia sees VinFast’s growth as a reflection of Vietnam’s determination to build its own automotive industry. “VinFast proves that vision and persistence can drive real change. Their story could shape how the Philippines approaches transportation and technology in the coming years,” he wrote.
