In July 2025, Volkswagen announced the opening of reservations for the Golf model in Vietnam, with a limited quantity to commemorate the 50th anniversary of this iconic vehicle’s global debut. Ahead of its official launch in the Vietnamese market this October, the legendary Volkswagen Golf has arrived at the racetrack for essential preparations.
As previously reported, the Volkswagen Golf in Vietnam comes in six variants: 1.5 eTSI Life, 1.5 eTSI Style, 1.5 eTSI R-Line, 2.0 TSI GTI Lite, 2.0 TSI GTI Performance, and R Performance 4Motion. The prices for these six versions range from 798 million to 1.898 billion VND.

All six Volkswagen Golf variants distributed in Vietnam are manufactured at the Wolfsburg plant. This is Volkswagen’s historic flagship factory in Germany. Wolfsburg is not only one of the world’s largest automobile plants but also the birthplace and development hub of the Golf for over half a century.

Wolfsburg has produced over 48 million vehicles, more than any other automobile plant globally. With over 20 million units, the Volkswagen Golf is the most produced model at this facility. This makes it the world’s best-selling hot hatch, with an impressive figure of over 37 million units sold.
Launched in 1974, the Volkswagen Golf has evolved through eight generations, continuously innovating and maintaining its leadership in the hot hatch segment. Its arrival in Vietnam marks a new chapter for the German brand in the country.

The Volkswagen Golf in Vietnam features a mild hybrid powertrain, including a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering a maximum power of 148 horsepower and peak torque of 250 Nm in the three 1.5 eTSI variants. The engine is paired with a 48V electric motor, offering up to 10% fuel savings.
Additionally, these three variants boast notable exterior features such as IQ.Light Matrix LED headlights, sporty R-Line front/rear bumpers, a rear spoiler, enhanced LED taillights, and 18-inch Bergamo wheels.
Inside, the 1.5 eTSI variants are equipped with a carbon-style dashboard, R-Line sport steering wheel and seats, a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 30-color ambient lighting system, a premium Harman Kardon sound system, and a three-zone Climatronic air conditioning system with Air Care air filtration.
The two GTI variants, on the other hand, feature a more sporty design and impressive equipment. They include IQ.Light Matrix LED headlights, a sporty front bumper, a rear spoiler, “X”-shaped fog lights, red brake calipers, dual exhausts, red stitching on the seats, a GTI-style center console, a new electronic gear selector, 30-color interior ambient lighting, Harman Kardon speakers, a sunroof, and a three-zone automatic climate control system.
Under the hood, the Volkswagen Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine, producing a maximum power of 242 horsepower and peak torque of 370 Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Finally, the R Performance 4Motion variant stands out with distinctive features such as the R emblem in multiple locations, IQ.Light LED Matrix headlights with signature blue accents, unique front/rear bumpers and air intakes, dual exhausts, and high-performance blue brake calipers.

Similarly, the interior of the R Performance 4Motion variant features unique elements such as a steering wheel with a blue-backlit R button and large paddle shifters, an R-View instrument cluster, sport seats with integrated headrests embroidered with the R logo, carbon gray trim, stainless steel pedals, and blue accents.
Powering the Volkswagen Golf R Performance 4Motion is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering a maximum power of 315 horsepower and peak torque of 420 Nm. The engine is paired with a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system featuring R-Performance Torque Vectoring and high-performance R-Performance brakes. This enables the variant to reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
According to the plan, the Volkswagen Golf will be officially launched in the Vietnamese market at the end of October 2025.
