Tucked away on an Alabama man’s land lies a staggering collection of approximately 1,300 vehicles, spanning every size, type, and brand imaginable.

Soon, every last vehicle will hit the auction block with no reserve, ensuring even the most overlooked gems find new homes.

Behind this monumental collection is Greg Rusk, whose father, Bobby Rusk, founded the hardboard packaging company Rusken Packaging in 1974. When Greg took over the family business in 1992, he also inherited a decades-long passion for automobiles.

Man’s Unstoppable Car Buying Habit Turns Garage into 1,300-Vehicle Museum

His approach was simple: buy a car, enjoy it for a weekend, then park it indefinitely. Over the years, this modest habit evolved into something extraordinary—a time-capsule treasure trove of American automotive history, sealed behind closed doors.

In an interview with Hagerty, Rusk revealed his collecting phases: dozens of Cadillacs, followed by Chevrolets, and later, Trans Ams.

Over 200 vehicles from what Hagerty calls his “generous collection” will auction this month, with the remainder following in the coming months. Currently, 180 are listed online. Some are showstoppers; others desperately need tender loving care.

Standouts include a 1998 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with 52,000 miles and a radiant yellow finish. Other American classics feature a V8-powered Chevrolet C10, a 1953 Pontiac Chieftain, and a 1956 Cadillac Sedan de Ville.

While predominantly American, international gems shine too: a 1953 Jaguar XK120, a 1989 Mazda RX-7 Turbo with an LS1 engine, a 1995 Toyota Celica ST Coupe, and a 1967 Porsche 911 Coupe.

Rusk and his team are transparent about the vehicles’ conditions. Many have sat dormant for years. While visually captivating, each requires mechanical attention before hitting the road again.
