With its exclusive policy tailored for students, Xanh SM is empowering young individuals to seamlessly enter the ride-hailing industry, helping them cover their living expenses.

Earning a Living After School to Support Themselves

Late at night in the dormitory area of Binh Thanh District (Ho Chi Minh City), Thanh Duy parks his VinFast electric motorbike by the roadside, reviewing the day’s trips. “Each ride isn’t just about earning money for food and rent; it’s also about not having to ask my parents for help,” Duy shares. This second-year student from the University of Transportation in Ho Chi Minh City reveals that since joining Xanh SM outside of his class and study hours, life for students like him living away from home has become significantly less burdensome.

Riding for Xanh SM Bike after school helps many students manage their living expenses

Like Duy, many students living away from home must fend for themselves in the city. Duy previously worked as a café server, but the conflicting work and study schedules left him constantly overwhelmed. “There were days when I’d finish classes at 10 PM and had to be back at work by 6 AM the next day. It was exhausting, and I still didn’t have enough money,” Duy recalls.

Many of Duy’s classmates face similar challenges: living away from home, renting accommodations, and covering all their educational and living expenses on their own. Part-time work becomes their only option. Among the available jobs, ride-hailing is a popular choice due to its flexibility. However, the reality isn’t always easy. Many platforms impose mandatory targets, such as requiring drivers to complete a certain number of trips to earn bonuses. With constantly changing class schedules, maintaining a consistent work rhythm becomes difficult, often leading to unstable income. “On busy study days, I’d miss out on bonuses. I’d work all day and end up with barely anything left,” Duy reflects on his time with a previous platform.

For students, even the initial costs of joining ride-hailing platforms—such as uniforms, deposits, or registration fees—can be a significant burden. A student from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology shared that just the criminal record check and deposit cost nearly one million dong, enough for a month of frugal living.

Additionally, there’s the initial investment in a vehicle. Many young people opt for used gasoline bikes to save money. However, major cities are now restricting gasoline vehicles in city centers—areas with high customer density and earnings. Investing a substantial amount in a gasoline bike that may only be usable for a short time makes many young people hesitant.

Xanh SM Bike: A Path to Independence for Students Living Away from Home

Recognizing the real needs of students seeking financial independence, Xanh SM has launched a tailored program with practical support. According to a Xanh SM representative, new student drivers are exempt from uniform fees if they commit to working for six months, can submit their criminal record check after two months of driving, and only need to deposit 500,000 dong—half the amount required for regular drivers—to receive a VinFast electric motorbike for both studying and working.

Notably, during the first three months, students are exempt from sales quotas, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the job and manage their schedules without pressure. Xanh SM drivers’ income is transparent and flexible: full-time drivers can earn around 2.5 million dong per week with 15 trips daily, while part-time students can still receive bonuses ranging from 500,000 to 1.5 million dong in the first 30 days, depending on the number of completed trips. Those maintaining good performance also receive an additional 1.5% revenue share in the first four weeks.

The Driver Xanh Festival held in late September in Ho Chi Minh City attracted many young people interested in learning more and signing up

“In my first month with Xanh SM, I completed enough trips to earn a bonus. The electric bike runs smoothly, with no smoke or gasoline smell, which customers love. As a driver, I feel more comfortable too,” Thanh Duy happily shares after switching to Xanh SM.

On the Driver Xanh community groups, many students express their joy at easily starting a new job with good income and opportunities to develop discipline, punctuality, and professionalism in communication—essential skills for entering the workforce.

Xanh SM Bike offers practical support programs for students seeking financial independence

According to the plan, on October 11th, Xanh SM will host the Driver Xanh Recruitment Day at Vincom Long Bien (Hanoi) and on October 17th at the An Hoi Dong Ward Cultural and Sports Service Center (Ho Chi Minh City). Students attending can register directly, test-drive VinFast electric bikes, learn about income policies and benefits, and receive advice on balancing study and work schedules effectively.

With its all-electric operation model, civilized environment, and clear earnings, Xanh SM Bike is becoming an ideal choice for students seeking financial independence while continuing their studies. More than just a part-time job, it’s a first step for young people to learn self-reliance and responsibility.
