Vietnam’s automobile market in September 2025 witnessed a remarkable rebound after several sluggish months, with total industry sales reaching nearly 49,000 units, a 20% increase compared to the previous month.

Among these, the urban SUV Toyota Yaris Cross surprised many by doubling its sales, topping the chart for the best-selling internal combustion engine vehicles of the month.

According to data compiled by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), VinFast, and Hyundai Thanh Cong, the market sold a total of 48,898 vehicles in September. VAMA recorded 30,688 units, an 18% rise from August but still 16% lower than the same period in 2024. VinFast maintained its strong performance with 13,914 electric vehicles sold, bringing the total for the first nine months to a record-breaking 103,884 units since the brand’s inception. Hyundai Thanh Cong also reported 4,296 units sold, totaling 35,802 units for the first nine months.

Below are the top 10 best-selling vehicles in September 2025:

VinFast VF 5: 3,847 units

With 3,847 units sold, a 40.1% growth, the VinFast VF 5 compact electric SUV continues to dominate the small electric vehicle market in Vietnam. Over the past nine months, cumulative sales reached 30,956 units. Currently, this model is priced at 529 million VND, including the battery.

VinFast VF 3: 2,682 units

Closely following is the VinFast VF 3, a mini electric SUV with September sales of 2,682 units. In the first nine months of 2025, it recorded 31,386 units sold.

Priced at just 299 million VND, its compact design is perfect for urban environments, quickly establishing a new market segment in Vietnam.

VinFast Herio Green: 2,173 units

The VinFast Herio Green, part of VinFast’s Green line, is specifically designed for commercial transportation services. In September, it sold 2,173 units, ranking third in overall market sales.

This A-SUV segment vehicle is optimized for both commercial and personal use, based on the VinFast VF 5 platform but refined for cost-efficiency and business performance. The VinFast Herio Green is priced at 499 million VND, including the battery.

VinFast Limo Green: 2,120 units

VinFast’s newest model, the 7-seater Limo Green MPV, led its segment with 2,120 units sold in September.

As Vietnam’s first 7-seater electric MPV, it is designed for economical and durable travel, priced at 749 million VND.

Toyota Yaris Cross: 1,964 units

In September, the Toyota Yaris Cross saw a 94% sales surge to 1,964 units, becoming the top-selling internal combustion engine vehicle and ranking fifth overall.

With 9,655 units sold in the first nine months, it is Toyota Vietnam’s best-selling model in 2025, outperforming traditional sedans like the Vios. Available in two versions, it is priced at 650 million and 765 million VND.

VinFast VF 6: 1,933 units

The VinFast VF 6 maintained steady sales with 1,933 units in September. It is offered in two versions, priced at 689 million and 749 million VND, both including the battery.

Mitsubishi Xpander: 1,792 units

The Mitsubishi Xpander ranked seventh with 1,792 units sold, a 97.8% increase from August. Year-to-date sales reached 12,438 units, making it the second best-selling internal combustion engine vehicle in Q3 2025.

Available in four versions, it is priced between 560 million and 698 million VND.

Ford Ranger: 1,683 units

The Ford Ranger remains highly popular, with September sales rising 11.4% to 1,683 units. Year-to-date, it is Vietnam’s best-selling internal combustion engine vehicle, with 12,577 units delivered.

Mitsubishi Xforce: 1,374 units

The Mitsubishi Xforce sold 1,374 units in September.

Imported from Indonesia, it is available in four versions: GLX, Exceed, Premium, and Ultimate, priced between 599 million and 705 million VND.

Mazda CX-5: 1,311 units

The Mazda CX-5 recorded 1,311 units sold in September, a 28% increase from August. Year-to-date sales reached 11,306 units.

Assembled locally, it is available in seven versions, priced between 749 million and 979 million VND.
