Beyond the 992 generation, Porsche enthusiasts hold a special fondness for the 911 991 series. Many avid collectors tirelessly hunt for this model, while others who already own it seek to refresh its appeal through various modifications—from engine tuning and body kits to custom wheels.

Recently, a Porsche 911 991 sports car spotted on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City captured attention with its refreshed appearance. Notably, the car features a deep moss green hue, a color reminiscent of Porsche’s vintage racing lineage.

To enhance its exterior, the owner of this Porsche 911 991 incorporated striking bronze accents, including dual stripes running from the hood, across the roof, and to the rear, a black number 80 with a bronze circular outline on both doors, and Porsche decals along the sides.

Additionally, the dual-spoke wheels were refinished in a rose gold shade, complemented by red brake calipers. The owner also secured a custom license plate ending in “911,” matching the model’s designation.

Introduced in 2011, the 991 generation marked a significant technological leap for the 911 series. The center console, inspired by the Carrera GT, was also adopted for the Panamera sedan. This generation introduced Porsche’s active chassis control system, PDCC.

In September 2015, Porsche debuted a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine for the base Carrera and Carrera S models. Compared to the 997, the 991 is slightly larger, with a 100 mm increase in wheelbase to 2,450 mm and a 70 mm increase in overall length to 4,490 mm.

A newly developed transmission allowed the rear wheels to be positioned 76 mm further back relative to the engine, significantly improving weight distribution and cornering performance.

Utilizing high-strength steel, aluminum, and composite materials, the weight was reduced to 1,380 kg for the manual Carrera, while the all-wheel-drive Turbo models with the PDK transmission weigh up to 1,605 kg. The PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung) dual-clutch transmission, produced by ZF Friedrichshafen, is available as a 7-speed option for all Carrera and non-S Turbo models, offering both automatic and manual modes.

Gears 1 through 6 feature sport ratios, with top speed achieved in sixth gear. Seventh gear has a longer ratio to reduce fuel consumption by maintaining lower engine RPMs. The PDK system essentially combines two transmissions into one, requiring dual clutches. All 991 models come standard with auto start-stop functionality across the Carrera range.
