Jeep has officially unveiled the mid-cycle refresh of its midsize SUV, the 2026 Grand Cherokee.
According to Stellantis, Jeep’s parent company, the 2026 Grand Cherokee is equipped with the new Hurricane 4 Turbo engine, a 2.0L powerhouse delivering an impressive 324 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. This marks a 20% increase in power compared to the previous 2.0L turbocharged engine, while also achieving a 10% improvement in fuel efficiency.
The secret behind these remarkable enhancements lies in the TJI technology. This innovative system features a small auxiliary combustion chamber above each cylinder, where the initial ignition occurs. The flame then rapidly spreads into the main combustion chamber, ensuring more complete fuel combustion. This process results in increased power output while reducing fuel consumption.
Crafted from lightweight materials such as aluminum for the engine block, timing cover, and oil pan, the Hurricane 4 Turbo engine also incorporates both direct and port fuel injection systems. It boasts dual spark plugs per cylinder and a Variable Geometry Turbocharger capable of generating up to 35 psi of boost pressure.
With a compression ratio of 12:1, the engine operates optimally even with regular 87 RON fuel, ensuring cost-effective operation. Jeep reports that 90% of peak torque is available between 2,600 and 5,600 RPM, reaching 100% from 3,000 to 4,500 RPM, promising seamless and robust acceleration.
Beyond the new engine, the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee boasts a refined and modern design. The iconic seven-slot grille has been redesigned, complemented by slimmer LED headlights and a lowered front bumper. The rear end features sleeker taillights and a sportier rear bumper.
Inside, Jeep has upgraded the infotainment system with a larger 12.3-inch central touchscreen and a 10.3-inch screen for the front passenger. The interior maintains the Grand Cherokee’s signature luxury and comfort, offering premium leather options and metallic accents.
The 2026 Grand Cherokee lineup has been streamlined to three main trims: Laredo, Limited, and Summit. The familiar 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine remains standard on the Laredo, while the new Hurricane 4 Turbo engine is optional on Laredo Altitude and higher trims.
In addition to the standard two-row model, Jeep continues to offer the three-row Grand Cherokee L and a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) variant for the Limited, Summit, and Trailhawk trims. These options cater to customers seeking versatility, fuel efficiency, and robust performance.
Jeep has also introduced three new exterior colors for 2026: Steel Blue, Copper Shino, and Fathom Blue, providing customers with more personalization choices.
Jeep has not yet announced the official pricing for the 2026 Grand Cherokee. The 2025 model starts at $38,460 (approximately 1.01 billion VND), so a slight price increase is expected for the refreshed version. The vehicle is slated to hit U.S. dealerships later this year.
