During the Honda Auto Tech Workshop held in Japan, Vietnamese media representatives had the opportunity to experience the Honda Prelude, a sports coupe making a comeback after over 20 years of absence.

This move has sparked rumors that the Prelude will soon be distributed in Vietnam. It’s a logical step for Honda, especially after the company announced it would stop taking orders for the Civic Type R—a high-performance model that has long been an icon in its lineup.

If introduced to Vietnam, the Prelude is likely to fill the void left by the Civic Type R, but with a more refined and everyday-friendly approach. The vehicle features a hybrid e:HEV powertrain, combining a 2.0L gasoline engine and an electric motor to deliver 200 horsepower. It shares the same chassis as the Civic Type R but has been fine-tuned to suit a grand tourer style.

Currently, Thailand is the first Southeast Asian market to welcome the Honda Prelude, although the official pricing has not yet been announced.

In Japan, the Honda Prelude is priced at 6,179 million yen (approximately 1.05 billion VND). If distributed in Vietnam, its price is rumored to exceed 3 billion VND, positioning it to compete with the Subaru BRZ, BMW 430i Convertible, and Porsche 718 Cayman.
