Recently, Toyota has officially confirmed the launch of the hybrid version of its Veloz MPV in Southeast Asia.

According to dealership sources, the Toyota Veloz Hybrid will be available in four variants, with an expected starting price of 299 million Rupiah (approximately $31,000 USD). If accurate, this would make it Toyota’s most affordable hybrid model in Indonesia.

Speculations suggest the Veloz Hybrid will feature a 1.5L gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and a CVT transmission—a configuration common in Toyota’s latest hybrid lineup.

Additionally, insider reports hint at a sportier Modellista variant. Toyota has not yet confirmed whether the hybrid version will introduce design updates to the Veloz’s exterior.

As part of its product expansion, Toyota Indonesia is accelerating the development of a battery assembly line to support its new hybrid models. As of August 2025, hybrids accounted for 56% of Toyota’s sales in Indonesia, underscoring the segment’s robust demand.

In Vietnam, the Toyota Veloz Cross remains imported from Indonesia without a hybrid option. However, Toyota Vietnam is steadily expanding its hybrid portfolio, including models like the Corolla Cross, Camry, Corolla Altis, and Yaris Cross. The Veloz Hybrid’s debut in Indonesia is anticipated to pave the way for its eventual introduction to the Vietnamese market.
