Toyota Indonesia is solidifying its position as a regional manufacturing hub by gearing up to export the newly launched Veloz Hybrid to Southeast Asian markets. This move marks a significant expansion of Toyota’s electrification strategy in the region.

We are striving to export every vehicle model produced in Indonesia,” stated Bob Azzam, Deputy General Manager of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), during the unveiling of the Veloz Hybrid at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025, which commenced on November 21st.

According to Azzam, Toyota Indonesia will initially focus on producing the right-hand-drive version of the Veloz Hybrid. Subsequently, the company will develop the left-hand-drive variant to cater to export markets.

Given this strategy, it’s highly likely that the Toyota Veloz Hybrid will soon be exported to Vietnam. Currently, the gasoline version of this model is sold in Vietnam under the name Toyota Veloz Cross. Initially, the Toyota Veloz Cross was imported directly from Indonesia before transitioning to local assembly. Additionally, Toyota Vietnam is already importing several hybrid models from Indonesia, including the Yaris Cross and Innova Cross.

The Toyota Veloz Hybrid is poised for export across ASEAN nations, and its arrival in Vietnam may be imminent.

The Veloz Hybrid will be manufactured at the TMMIN plant, a key player in Toyota’s export operations, handling both completely built-up units (CBU) and components. The addition of the Veloz Hybrid enriches Toyota Indonesia’s export portfolio, joining the ranks of the Innova Zenix and Yaris Cross. Notably, in mid-October 2025, TMMIN achieved a milestone by surpassing the export of 3 million CBU vehicles to over 100 countries.

The Veloz Hybrid is built on the same platform as the Toyota Veloz currently available in Indonesia. It retains the sporty and modern MPV-SUV crossover design of its gasoline counterpart. Notably, higher-end versions of the Toyota Veloz Hybrid feature the Modellista body kit, enhancing its aesthetic appeal.

At its core, the Toyota Veloz Hybrid shares its powertrain with the Yaris Cross. It is equipped with a 1.5L 2NR-VEX four-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine, delivering a maximum output of 91 horsepower and 121 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an electric motor producing 80 horsepower and 141 Nm. The combined system output reaches 111 horsepower, complemented by an e-CVT transmission and a 0.7 kWh battery.

In the Indonesian market, the Toyota Veloz Hybrid is available in four variants: V, Q, Q Modellista, and Q Modellista TSS. The V variant includes features such as a reverse camera, a 9-inch infotainment screen, a redesigned instrument cluster, and all-black upholstery. The Q variant adds a 10-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, streaming services from select providers, and a 360-degree camera.

The Q Modellista variant introduces a black body kit on select exterior areas, including black-toned alloy wheels. The top-tier Q Modellista TSS variant incorporates the advanced Toyota Safety Sense ADAS package, featuring adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure alert/prevention, rear cross-traffic alert, and accidental acceleration prevention.

During the GJAW 2025 event, Indonesian customers can pre-order the Toyota Veloz Hybrid at a special promotional price ranging from 299 to 390 million Rupiah (approximately 472 to 616 million VND). The standard V variant’s price will remain unchanged until the end of 2025, with no limit on pre-orders. Deliveries to Indonesian customers are scheduled to begin in 2026.

Priced from 299 million Rupiah, the Toyota Veloz Hybrid is competitively positioned in Indonesia’s MPV segment. Toyota aims for this model to accelerate the adoption of hybrid technology in the country’s most popular vehicle category.
