The compact Elroq model is surpassing expectations, with Skoda confirming the assembly of over 100,000 units in just 11 months. Production resumed on January 21, 2025, at the Mlada Boleslav complex, the Czech automaker’s primary manufacturing hub.
At the time of reporting, Mlada Boleslav is also tasked with producing the larger Enyaq and four internal combustion engine models, starting with the brand’s bestselling Octavia. The remaining three models include the Golf-based Scala, the smaller Fabia, and the Kamiq crossover.
Elroq Emerges as Skoda’s Cash Cow, Anticipated Launch in Vietnam
The Czech facility is a pivotal production site for the Volkswagen Group. Beyond the MEB-supported BEV battery system for electric vehicles, the plant also manufactures the EA211 engine and the MQ200 manual transmission.
Pictured in Hyper Green, the commemorative vehicle is an Elroq RS. The “go-faster” suffix debuted in the 1970s, but in one market, the Czech automaker uses vRS due to trademark issues. The vRS acronym stands for Victory Rally Sport, with the market in question being the United Kingdom.



Currently one of Europe’s top-selling electric vehicles, the Elroq is also the most popular EV in markets including the Czech Republic, Denmark, and Slovakia. Additionally, it ranks among the top three electric vehicles in Austria, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
In Germany, the EU’s largest new passenger car market, the Elroq was honored by a jury of 40 international journalists as the best electric vehicle in its segment and named German Car of the Year 2026. The jury highlighted the Elroq’s value proposition among its standout features.
Including VAT, the Elroq starts at €33,900 (approximately $39,300) for the rear-wheel-drive 50 model and €38,680 (around $44,800) for the rear-wheel-drive 60 model. The 85 model offers both rear-wheel and dual-motor options. The 60, 85, and 85x variants also include a SportLine version.



The 2026 Skoda Elroq RS sits at the pinnacle, starting at €53,050 ($61,500) before options. Approximately €3,000 more than the 85x SportLine, it shares the 77 kWh battery of all 85 variants. The 60 and 50 models feature 59 kWh and 52 kWh batteries, respectively. The Elroq RS delivers 340 PS (335 hp) and a maximum torque of 679 Nm (501 lb-ft).
Skoda Deutschland claims a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.4 seconds, with the Elroq RS reaching a top speed of 180 km/h. For maximum range, customers can opt for the Elroq 85 at €44,180 ($51,200).
This compact electric SUV offers a range of up to 361 miles (581 km) on a full charge. Under optimal conditions, it can charge from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes at up to 175 kilowatts.
