By the end of October, the Mitsubishi Xpander continued its dominant streak, outperforming all competitors and maintaining its undisputed leadership in the market.
The Mitsubishi Xpander recorded an impressive 2,644 units sold in October 2025, capturing over half of the segment’s market share. It stands as the only model to surpass the 2,000-unit milestone for the month.
Its rivals lag significantly behind. For instance, the Toyota Veloz, the closest competitor, managed only 817 units, less than a third of the Xpander’s sales. Other contenders like the Toyota Avanza, Honda BR-V, Kia Carens, and Hyundai Stargazer trailed even further.
Over the past 10 months, Mitsubishi has delivered 15,082 Xpander units to customers. This figure dwarfs the combined sales of the Toyota Veloz and Avanza by nearly 8,000 units. Given the substantial lead and consistent sales momentum, Toyota’s chances of overtaking Mitsubishi in the final two months of the year appear virtually impossible.
If the Xpander sustains its performance through year-end, it will secure the top spot in the B-segment MPV sales for 2025, marking Mitsubishi’s seventh consecutive year of dominance in the compact multi-purpose vehicle category. However, the Xpander’s sales have remained flat compared to the previous year, signaling that the MPV segment is approaching saturation.
A rare bright spot in the market is the rise of the Honda BR-V. Climbing from a slow-selling position, the BR-V now ranks third in the segment after 10 months. Honda’s model achieved a 17% growth compared to the same period last year, despite the segment’s overall 2% decline.
The Suzuki XL7 also showed notable growth at 21%, though its market share remains modest.
Conversely, the Korean models Kia Carens and Hyundai Stargazer have yet to make a significant impact. The Carens sold over 3,100 units, closely competing with the Honda BR-V, while the Stargazer continues to lag at the bottom of the sales chart.
