Recently launched in the Vietnamese market, a Volkswagen Golf R with temporary Dong Nai province license plates has been spotted on the streets.
In Vietnam, the Golf R Performance 4Motion is priced at 1.898 billion VND. This is the most powerful hatchback ever officially distributed in Vietnam.
Overall, the Golf R’s design doesn’t differ significantly from its lower-tier variants. It retains the 5-door hatchback style, a low ground clearance of 123 mm, and overall dimensions of 4,287 x 1,789 x 1,456 mm. With a wheelbase of 2,636 mm, the Golf R is positioned in the B+ hatchback segment.
The front end impresses with its matrix LED headlights, a continuous positioning light strip, and large air intakes that enhance aerodynamics while aiding brake and engine cooling.
At the rear, the Golf R stands out with its aggressive rear bumper, symmetrical quad exhaust system, dual air vents, and a large spoiler that optimizes downforce at high speeds.
Volkswagen has also equipped this model with blue-accented sport brake calipers matching the body color, paired with 19-inch drilled brake discs to enhance heat dissipation and maintain braking performance under extreme conditions.
The Golf R’s standout feature lies in its powertrain. It is equipped with a 2.0 TSI turbocharged engine producing 320 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a full-time 4Motion all-wheel-drive system and R Performance Torque Vectoring, which dynamically distributes torque to each wheel for exceptional traction.
The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 4.7 seconds, with a top speed of 270 km/h (when electronic limits are removed). Additionally, the Golf R features an adaptive DCC suspension system with 5 driving modes, including a Race mode designed for the track.
