According to consolidated data from the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), the number of newly registered motor vehicles nationwide in 2025 continued to surge, reflecting a growing demand for personal vehicle ownership.
Specifically, from December 15, 2024, to December 14, 2025, the country recorded 624,300 newly registered cars, a 27% increase compared to 2024, when nearly 491,400 vehicles were registered. Ho Chi Minh City led the nation with approximately 102,400 new car registrations. Hanoi followed with 88,165, while Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, and Phu Tho recorded 31,436, 30,700, and 26,930 registrations, respectively.
Motorcycle registrations saw an even more significant rise. This year, over 3.2 million motorcycles were newly registered nationwide, a sharp increase from nearly 2.4 million in 2024. Ho Chi Minh City topped the list with 290,570 registrations, followed by Hanoi with 255,658. An Giang, Dong Nai, and Lam Dong reported 157,699, 135,332, and 130,934 new registrations, respectively.
In addition to cars and motorcycles, registrations for trucks and container vehicles also saw a notable increase. The Traffic Police Department reported that in 2025, over 122,000 trucks and container vehicles were newly registered, a 35% rise compared to 2024, when 89,943 vehicles were registered.
These trends highlight increasing pressure on transport infrastructure, particularly in major urban areas, and underscore the urgent need for improved vehicle management, traffic organization, and infrastructure development in the coming period.
