The Toyota Vios Hybrid made its debut in Thailand back in August 2025. After more than four months, this model has now been introduced in another Southeast Asian market: Malaysia.

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) recently unveiled the official details of the 2026 Toyota Vios Hybrid in Malaysia. The vehicle comes in two variants: the 1.5 HEV AT and the 1.5 HEV GR Sport AT, priced between RM 103,900 and RM 109,900 (approximately $670–$709 million VND). Compared to its direct competitor, the Honda City e:HEV, which is priced at RM 111,900, the new Toyota offering is more affordable.

The standout feature of the 2026 Toyota Vios Hybrid is undoubtedly its powertrain. It utilizes Toyota’s fourth-generation hybrid system, delivering a fuel efficiency rating of just 3.6 liters per 100 km under the NEDC standard.

Toyota Malaysia has yet to release detailed specifications about the hybrid powertrain. However, based on Thai market data, the Vios Hybrid is equipped with a 2NR-VEX 1.5L naturally aspirated inline-four gasoline engine. This engine produces a maximum output of 91 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 121 Nm between 4,000 and 4,800 rpm.

The engine is paired with an electric motor generating 80 horsepower and 141 Nm, along with a 0.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack located beneath the rear seats. The combined system output is 111 horsepower, delivered to the front wheels via an e-CVT automatic transmission. In comparison, the Honda City e:HEV offers 108 horsepower and 253 Nm, with an average fuel consumption of 3.77 liters per 100 km, making the Vios Hybrid slightly more powerful and fuel-efficient.

In terms of exterior design, the 2026 Toyota Vios Hybrid closely resembles its conventional gasoline counterpart. However, it features a newly designed dark chrome-finished upper grille.

Inside, this B-segment sedan’s hybrid variant introduces new interior ambient lighting and a 10.1-inch Digital Audio infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. It also includes a low-speed sound system to alert pedestrians and cyclists when the vehicle is in motion.

Additionally, the Malaysian market offers a GR Sport variant of the Toyota Vios Hybrid, distinguished by a sportier front bumper and grille, aerodynamic body kits, and 17-inch wheels fitted with Continental PremiumContact 6 tires (205/50R17). The GR Sport also features a specially tuned suspension system.

Both variants of the 2026 Toyota Vios Hybrid feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Malaysian customers can choose from several exterior colors, including Platinum White Pearl, Spicy Scarlet SE, Attitude Black, Silver Metallic, and the exclusive Celestite Grey Metallic. The GR Sport variant is available in Platinum White Pearl, Spicy Scarlet SE, and Attitude Black, with optional black roof combinations for white and red models.

The 2026 Toyota Vios Hybrid includes advanced ADAS safety features.

There is currently no information on whether the Toyota Vios Hybrid will be sold in Vietnam. However, it would not be surprising if Toyota plans to introduce this model to the Vietnamese market in the future.
