The latest statistics from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), TC Group, and VinFast reveal a year of turbulence and record-breaking milestones in Vietnam’s automotive market.

By the end of 2025, the total vehicle sales across the market reached 495,395 units. The most significant highlight wasn’t the total sales figure but the stark polarization among brands. Electric vehicles surged to dominate the market, while many traditional automakers faced severe declines.

Below is the top 10 list of best-selling brands in Vietnam for 2025:

VinFast: 175,099 vehicles

2025 marked a remarkable surge for VinFast, as the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer delivered a total of 175,099 vehicles, a staggering 101.3% growth compared to 2024. This unprecedented figure set a new record in Vietnam’s automotive history. With these sales, VinFast not only maintained its market leadership for 15 consecutive months but also established a significant lead over its competitors.

December 2025 saw an impressive sales peak, with over 27,600 vehicles delivered. This success was driven by a comprehensive product lineup, including the compact VF 3 and VF 5 models, which contributed over 88,000 units. Notably, the newly launched Limo Green MPV, introduced in August, quickly became a sensation, with nearly 11,000 units sold in its final month.

Toyota: 71,954 vehicles

Despite being significantly outpaced by VinFast, with sales 2.4 times lower, Toyota demonstrated its resilience by securing the second position with 71,954 vehicles sold, an 8.1% increase from 2024. The Japanese automaker’s success in Vietnam continues to be built on its core values of durability, high resale value, and an extensive service network.

In 2025, the Yaris Cross emerged as Toyota’s best-selling model, with over 14,600 units sold, followed by the Vios sedan at 13,424 units. However, the rising tide of electric vehicles poses a significant challenge for Toyota in retaining its customer base in the coming years.

Hyundai: 53,229 vehicles

In contrast to the strong growth of VinFast and Toyota, Hyundai faced a challenging year, with sales dropping to 53,229 vehicles, a 20.8% decline compared to 2024. This alarming decrease is significant for a brand that once competed fiercely for the top spot.

While the Tucson and Creta models maintained steady sales, each exceeding 9,000 units, the decline of the Accent sedan significantly reduced Hyundai’s overall market share, as competitors in the same segment gained ground.

Ford: 50,450 vehicles

A rare bright spot among traditional gasoline vehicle manufacturers, Ford achieved a 19.6% growth, selling 50,450 vehicles in 2025. This performance solidified Ford’s fourth position. The “king of pickups,” the Ranger, was the primary driver, with nearly 18,700 units sold, followed by the Everest SUV at over 13,000 units. Despite discontinuing the Explorer in Vietnam mid-year, Ford’s focus on high-clearance vehicles helped it successfully defend its market position against the electrification trend.

Mitsubishi: 44,107 vehicles

Mitsubishi secured the fifth position with 44,107 vehicles sold, a 7.1% increase from the previous year. This achievement underscores the brand’s successful focus on affordable multi-purpose vehicles. The Xpander MPV remained the bestseller, contributing nearly 20,000 units, almost half of Mitsubishi’s total sales. Additionally, the Force model proved popular, with over 15,000 units delivered, helping Mitsubishi maintain stability in a volatile market.

Mazda: 32,455 vehicles

Mazda, distributed by Thaco, concluded 2025 with 32,455 vehicles delivered, a slight 0.4% decrease from the previous year. This can be considered a success, given that direct competitors offered numerous promotions.

Mazda’s strength in Vietnam remains concentrated in the CX-5, a “phenomenal” model that sold 17,262 units, contributing over half of the brand’s total sales. The CX-5’s stability helped Mazda offset declines in other segments, securing its sixth position in the overall rankings.

Honda: 28,719 vehicles

By the end of 2025, Honda Vietnam recorded sales of 28,719 vehicles, a modest 1.6% increase from 2024. In a market marked by significant fluctuations, maintaining positive growth highlights Honda’s successful strategy of focusing on product quality and durability. The Honda City was the star performer, with 10,899 units sold. This B-segment sedan remains a reliable pillar, helping Honda maintain its position among the most trusted gasoline vehicle brands for urban customers.

KIA: 27,176 vehicles

Once a top-tier brand, KIA experienced a sharp 21.4% decline in 2025, with total sales reaching 27,176 vehicles. Despite a diverse and modern product lineup, competitors’ continuous updates and price adjustments eroded KIA’s advantages.

Currently, the Seltos is the brand’s sole standout model, with 6,577 units sold—a modest figure given KIA’s potential.

Isuzu: 11,742 vehicles

A surprising entry in this year’s rankings is Isuzu, with an 11.6% growth, achieving sales of 11,742 vehicles. However, this figure is insufficient to lift the Japanese brand out of the second-to-last position. Isuzu continues to struggle in the passenger vehicle segment, with a limited product range, slow design updates, and features that lag behind young consumers’ technology expectations. A thin dealership network and excessive focus on commercial vehicles hinder Isuzu’s family car segment from making a significant breakthrough, despite seemingly positive growth figures.

Suzuki: 6,596 vehicles

At the bottom of the rankings, Suzuki faces a harsh reality. By the end of 2025, the brand sold only 6,596 vehicles, a record 35.7% decline compared to 2024—the steepest drop among mainstream automakers in Vietnam. The absence of new strategic models, coupled with the rise of competitively priced electric vehicles, has eroded Suzuki’s advantages in pricing and operating costs. Without significant product innovations in the near future, Suzuki risks fading from the market entirely.
