According to the sales report from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), in December 2025, the total market sales (excluding Hyundai and VinFast) reached 47,067 units, marking a 19.6% increase compared to the previous month. This included 35,803 passenger cars, 10,741 commercial vehicles, and 523 special-purpose vehicles. Compared to December 2025, passenger car sales rose by 25%, commercial vehicles by 5%, and special-purpose vehicles by 7%.
Additionally, VAMA reported that in the final month of 2025, Vietnamese consumers purchased 23,826 domestically assembled vehicles, a 30% increase from the previous month. The corresponding figure for completely built-up (CBU) imported vehicles was 23,241 units, an 11% rise.

Top 10 Slowest-Selling Cars in Vietnam, December 2025 (units)
1. Ford Mustang Mach-E: 1 Unit
In December, the Ford Mustang Mach-E replaced the Honda Accord as Vietnam’s slowest-selling car model. It recorded a mere 1 unit sold, an improvement from the previous month when no units were sold in November 2025.

Ford Mustang Mach-E
The poor sales of the Ford Mustang Mach-E in Vietnam are unsurprising given its high price tag of 2.599 billion VND. Additionally, Ford’s lack of a widespread public charging network adds inconvenience for potential buyers.
2. Honda Accord: 2 Units
The Honda Accord is a perennial fixture in the top 10 slowest-selling cars in Vietnam. December 2025 was no exception, with only 2 units sold, a 75% decline.

Honda Accord
The Honda Accord faces stiff competition in Vietnam due to its high price, starting at 1.319 billion VND, and limited variant options. Its unchanged design and features over the years, coupled with the declining popularity of the D-segment sedan, have further diminished its appeal.
3. Suzuki Jimny: 28 Units
Like the previous month, the Suzuki Jimny featured in the top 10 slowest-selling cars in December 2025, with 28 units sold, a 6.6% decrease.

Suzuki Jimny
Imported from Japan, the Suzuki Jimny carries a high price tag starting at 789 million VND. Its compact size and features fail to justify this cost, contributing to its sluggish sales.
4. Toyota Corolla Altis: 28 Units
Throughout 2025, the Toyota Corolla Altis frequently appeared in the top 10 slowest-selling cars. In December 2025, this C-segment sedan once again made the list with just 28 units sold, a 6.6% decline.

Toyota Corolla Altis
Similar to the Honda Accord, the Toyota Corolla Altis suffers from an unattractive price range (725-870 million VND) and stagnant design and features over the years. The waning popularity of C-segment sedans further hampers its sales.
5. Kia K5: 35 Units
The second D-segment sedan on the list for December 2025 is the Kia K5, with 35 units sold, a slight 6% increase.

Kia K5
Compared to the Honda Accord, the Kia K5 offers a more competitive price range of 859-999 million VND. Recent discounts of up to 90 million VND have further sweetened the deal. However, the declining popularity of D-segment sedans in Vietnam makes it challenging for the K5 to attract buyers.
6. Toyota Alphard: 35 Units
The Toyota Alphard matched the Kia K5 in December 2025 sales, with 35 units sold. This represents a 75% growth compared to the previous month for this luxury MPV, often referred to as the “land limousine.”

Toyota Alphard
With a price tag ranging from 4.37 to 4.475 billion VND, the Toyota Alphard caters to a niche market. Its high cost explains its low sales volume.
7. Kia Morning: 36 Units
Following the K5, the second Kia model on this list is the Morning. This A-segment car sold 36 units, a 125% increase. Despite this growth, its actual sales remain modest.

Kia Morning
In recent years, A-segment cars have lost favor with Vietnamese consumers due to their compact size and basic features. The Kia Morning is among the “victims” of this shift in consumer preferences, with even its upgraded version failing to boost sales significantly.
8. Kia Soluto: 53 Units
The Kia Soluto is the third Kia model on the list of the 10 slowest-selling cars in Vietnam for December 2025, with 53 units sold, a 60.6% increase.

Kia Soluto
As one of the most affordable B-segment sedans in Vietnam, priced between 386 and 449 million VND, the Kia Soluto fails to captivate consumers due to its uninspiring design and features.
9. Suzuki Swift: 59 Units
Joining the Jimny, the Suzuki Swift is another Suzuki model in the top 10 slowest-selling cars in Vietnam for December 2025. It recorded 59 units sold, a 51.2% increase.

Suzuki Swift
The Suzuki Swift is one of the few remaining B-segment hatchback models in Vietnam. The declining popularity of this segment explains its poor sales performance.
10. Isuzu mu-X: 66 Units
The Isuzu mu-X once again featured among the slowest-selling cars in December 2025, with sales surging 127% to 66 units.

Isuzu mu-X
Priced attractively between 928 million and 1.269 billion VND, the Isuzu mu-X struggles due to its polarizing design and Isuzu’s stronger association with commercial vehicles, limiting its appeal to Vietnamese consumers.
