For many enthusiasts of the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the pinnacle of this lineup is undoubtedly the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. With its rarity in Vietnam and a price tag exceeding 12 billion VND, this model is not for the average buyer.

It’s been 14 years since the GLS line ceased production, but the Vietnamese automotive community is abuzz once again with the discovery of a Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. This vehicle remains brand new, unregistered in Vietnam, and has been stored at Hai Phong port since 2018.

In 2018, the Mercedes-Benz GLS 63 was priced above 12 billion VND in Vietnam, with only a handful available in the country. The forgotten unit at Hai Phong port belongs to the second generation, produced from 2013 to 2019, bearing the X166 code.

The upgraded version was unveiled in November 2015 and entered production in January 2016. The GL-Class was rebranded as the GLS to align with Mercedes’ new naming scheme. Exterior updates include full LED taillights and a revised front fascia featuring updated LED headlights, grille, and bumper.

New exterior paint options and alloy wheel designs were introduced. Interior enhancements include a redesigned dashboard, a new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and an upgraded 8-inch standalone COMAND infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The GLS63 AMG received performance improvements, and the 7-speed automatic transmission was replaced by the 9G-Tronic 9-speed unit.

At the heart of the Mercedes-Benz GLS63 AMG is a 5.5-liter V8 engine, delivering a maximum output of 585 horsepower and a peak torque of 760 Nm.

Paired with the AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, this powerhouse enables the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
