Mid-size SUV Sales in December 2025 (units: vehicles)

Ford Everest: 1,847 Units

2025 was a successful year for Ford in the Vietnamese market, largely thanks to the Everest.

In December 2025, the Everest brought in 1,847 customers for Ford, representing a 27.4% growth rate. Meanwhile, the cumulative sales for the entire year reached 13,056 units. With these results, it’s no surprise that the Ford Everest maintained its dominance in the mid-size SUV segment for both December and the entire year of 2025.

Ford Everest

The Ford Everest’s appeal stems from its eye-catching design, modern convenience and safety features, and diverse range of versions, offering ample choices for buyers. Its price ranges from 1.099 to 1.545 billion VND.

In Vietnam, the Ford Everest is equipped with two 2.0L 4-cylinder diesel engines. The first is a single-turbo engine with a maximum power output of 170 hp and a peak torque of 405 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The corresponding figures for the twin-turbo engine are 210 hp and 500 Nm. The twin-turbo engine is coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission and is exclusively available in premium versions.

Toyota Fortuner: 648 Units

In December 2025, the Toyota Fortuner climbed to second place in the mid-size SUV segment in terms of sales. It sold 648 units, a 126.5% increase, bringing the total sales for 2025 to 3,489 units.

Toyota Fortuner

Previously, the Toyota Fortuner was the top choice in the mid-size SUV segment for Vietnamese consumers. However, due to a lack of significant design and feature upgrades, its appeal has gradually diminished.

The Toyota Fortuner is priced between 1.055 and 1.35 billion VND. For this price, customers receive a mid-size SUV with three engine options: a 2.4L diesel, a 2.8L diesel, and a 2.7L gasoline engine. The respective performance figures for these engines are 147 hp/400 Nm, 201 hp/500 Nm, and 164 hp/245 Nm. These engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel drive or 4WD.

Mazda CX-8: 551 Units

The Mazda CX-8 secured third place in the mid-size SUV segment, selling 551 units in December 2025, an 86.1% increase. Its total sales for 2025 reached 2,864 units.

Mazda CX-8

The Mazda CX-8 is currently the most affordable mid-size SUV, priced from 949 million to 1.149 billion VND. Additionally, it boasts a design that appeals to the masses and features comparable to its segment competitors.

Under the hood, the Mazda CX-8 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine, producing a maximum power output of 188 hp and a peak torque of 252 Nm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5 Luxury and 2.5 Premium versions use front-wheel drive (FWD), while the 2.5 Signature AWD is equipped with full-time all-wheel drive.

Hyundai Santa Fe: 242 Units

December 2025 also saw growth for the Hyundai Santa Fe, with sales reaching 242 units. Compared to the previous month, sales of this Korean SUV increased by 20.3%, bringing the total for 2025 to 2,622 units.

Hyundai Santa Fe

The Hyundai Santa Fe currently available in Vietnam belongs to the latest generation, featuring a transformed design and features. However, its exterior design has sparked some controversy, impacting monthly sales.

In late 2025, the Hyundai Santa Fe introduced a new hybrid version. As a result, it now offers three engine options. The first is a naturally aspirated 2.5L 4-cylinder Smartstream gasoline engine, producing a maximum power output of 194 hp and a peak torque of 246 Nm. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or full-time all-wheel drive HTRAC.

The second is a turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder Smartstream gasoline engine, delivering a maximum power output of 281 hp and a peak torque of 422 Nm. This engine is coupled with a wet 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the HTRAC all-wheel drive system.

The third is a Turbo-Hybrid powertrain, combining a turbocharged 1.6L 4-cylinder SmartStream gasoline engine, an electric motor, and a 1.49 kWh Li-ion Polymer battery. The gasoline engine generates a maximum power output of 180 hp and a peak torque of 265 Nm, while the electric motor provides approximately 60 hp. The total power output of this model reaches 235 hp, with a peak torque of 367 Nm. Additionally, it features a 6-speed automatic transmission, HTRAC all-wheel drive, and a 12V battery positioned under the second-row seats.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport: 105 Units

The most surprising model in the mid-size SUV segment in December 2025 was the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. After resuming sales in November 2025, it experienced strong growth in December, selling 105 units, a 288.8% increase. This was the highest growth rate in the mid-size SUV segment for December 2025. However, its total sales for 2025 were only 180 units.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

Like the Toyota Fortuner, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in Vietnam has not received significant design and feature upgrades for a long time. This naturally hinders its competitiveness against rivals. Additionally, its price, ranging from 1.13 to 1.365 billion VND, is not particularly competitive.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is equipped with a 2.4L MIVEC diesel engine, producing a maximum power output of 178 hp and a peak torque of 430 Nm. The drivetrain is available in two configurations: rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, both featuring a rear differential lock.

Kia Sorento: 96 Units

The model with the lowest growth rate in the mid-size SUV segment in December 2025 was the Kia Sorento. It sold 96 units, a mere 3.2% increase. Its total sales for 2025 were a modest 1,020 units.

Kia Sorento

The Kia Sorento currently offers the most versions and engine options in the mid-size SUV segment in Vietnam, but its price, ranging from 939 million to 1.389 billion VND, is not very competitive. It is distributed in both old and new generations.

The new generation Kia Sorento offers two engine options: a 2.5L Smartstream gasoline engine and a 2.0L Smartstream diesel engine. The gasoline engine produces a maximum power output of 177 hp and a peak torque of 232 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The corresponding figures for the diesel engine are 198 hp and 440 Nm, coupled with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Additionally, it features four driving modes (Normal/Eco/Sport/Smart) and three terrain modes (Snow/Sand/Mud).

Isuzu mu-X: 66 Units

The last position in the mid-size SUV segment once again went to the Isuzu mu-X. This Japanese model sold 66 units, a 127.5% increase. Its total sales for 2025 reached 314 units, not even matching the Ford Everest’s sales for a single month.

Isuzu mu-X

The Isuzu mu-X offers a competitive price, ranging from 928 million to 1.269 billion VND. However, its design is less appealing, and the brand is primarily associated with trucks.

Powering the Isuzu mu-X is a turbocharged 1.9L RZ4E-TC diesel engine, producing a maximum power output of 150 hp and a peak torque of 350 Nm. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, depending on the version.
