December 2025 witnessed a surprising shake-up in the pickup truck segment rankings. Toyota Hilux plummeted to the bottom, replaced by Isuzu D-Max. Meanwhile, the Ford Ranger maintained its dominance at the top.

Ford Ranger: 2,199 Units
In December 2025, Ford sold 2,199 Ranger units in Vietnam, a 7.7% increase from the previous month. The cumulative sales for 2025 reached 18,692 units. This positions the Ford Ranger as the undisputed leader in the pickup truck segment, not only outselling its competitors but also ranking among the most popular vehicles in Vietnam last year.

Compared to 2024, the Ford Ranger’s sales in 2025 grew by 6.76%. It currently holds approximately 69% of the pickup truck market share in Vietnam.
The Ford Ranger captivates Vietnamese consumers with its sleek design, modern features, and the most diverse lineup in the pickup truck segment, offering ample choices. Prices range from 665 million to 1.306 billion VND, including the Ford Ranger Raptor.
Under the hood, the Ford Ranger offers two engine options. The first is a 2.0L single-turbocharged diesel engine producing 167 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The second is a 2.0L twin-turbocharged diesel engine delivering 207 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Both engines are available with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, depending on the variant.
Mitsubishi Triton: 579 Units
The Mitsubishi Triton secured second place in the pickup truck segment, selling 579 units in December 2025, a 23.4% increase. This brings the total sales for 2025 to 4,303 units, a 60.14% surge compared to 2024. While its sales are only a quarter of the Ford Ranger’s, the Triton’s growth is impressive.

The Mitsubishi Triton’s advantages include a more appealing design, attractive features, and a competitive price range of 655-924 million VND. The brand’s extended promotional campaign throughout 2025 also boosted its sales.
Powering the Mitsubishi Triton is a 2.4L twin-turbocharged MIVEC diesel engine. In the 2WD AT GLX and 2WD AT Premium variants, it produces 184 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. The 4WD AT Athlete variant delivers 204 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, depending on the variant.
Isuzu D-Max: 77 Units
The Isuzu D-Max claimed the third spot in the pickup truck segment, selling 77 units in December 2025, a 54% increase. Its cumulative sales for 2025 reached 597 units, a 6.61% rise compared to 2024.

The Isuzu D-Max is one of the most affordable options in the segment, priced between 650-880 million VND. However, its somewhat polarizing design and brand perception have hindered its sales.
The Isuzu D-Max is powered by a 1.9L diesel engine producing 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Toyota Hilux: 74 Units
The Toyota Hilux ranked last in the pickup truck segment in December 2025, with only 74 units sold, an 81.5% decline. Despite this, its cumulative sales for 2025 reached 3,501 units, a 45.63% increase compared to 2024.

In January 2026, the new generation Toyota Hilux will be introduced in Vietnam, featuring upgraded design and equipment. This is expected to boost its sales.
The current generation Toyota Hilux is priced between 668-999 million VND in Vietnam. For this price, customers get a durable, value-retaining mid-size pickup truck with adequate features.

The second is a 2.8L turbocharged engine delivering 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.
