While Vietnamese car enthusiasts are still reveling in the arrival of the first two Porsche 911 GT3 RS 992 street-legal race cars, Porsche Vietnam’s authorized dealership staff are expediting paperwork for several other high-performance models. Among these is the highly anticipated Porsche 718 Spyder RS.
The first Porsche 718 Spyder RS spotted in Vietnam features a striking pink exterior and is equipped with the Weissach Package. This upgrade includes lightweight components such as magnesium alloy wheels, titanium exhausts, and carbon fiber exterior accents, further reducing the vehicle’s weight. The interior is enhanced with Race-Tex fabric in place of leather, with the headrests embroidered and embossed with the “Weissach” logo.
First Porsche 718 Spyder RS Spotted in Vietnam: Powered by the Porsche 911 GT3 Engine
For those curious about the 718 Spyder RS, it’s the convertible variant of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, of which at least two units have already been seen on Vietnamese roads.
The Porsche 718 Spyder RS is powered by a 4.0L naturally aspirated boxer six-cylinder engine borrowed from the Porsche 911 GT3, delivering an impressive 493 horsepower and 449 Nm of torque. This marks a 79 horsepower increase over the standard 718 Spyder.

Paired with a 7-speed PDK transmission, this high-performance roadster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. The front end of the new Porsche 718 Spyder RS closely resembles that of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
The hood is crafted from carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) and features a wide air outlet above the bumper. Two NACA ducts enhance brake cooling without compromising aerodynamics. The air intakes at the outer edges of the bumper contribute to downforce.

Unlike the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, which features a large rear wing, the 718 Spyder RS opts for a “duck tail” spoiler, similar to the 718 Spyder but larger and slightly modified. This design choice maintains aerodynamic balance and stability, ensuring a smooth open-top driving experience.
The lightweight soft top is manually operated and consists of two detachable parts: a fabric sunshade and a rear glass panel. Both can be used independently and easily stowed behind the seats when not in use.
This innovative roof system weighs just 18.3 kg, 7.6 kg lighter than the 718 Spyder’s and a remarkable 16.5 kg lighter than the standard 718 Boxster’s electric roof. The fabric top alone weighs 8 kg, allowing drivers to leave it behind for an even lighter ride on dry days.
