Despite its global debut just a few years ago, the Hyundai Santa Fe mid-size SUV has stunned enthusiasts with its mid-lifecycle facelift.
Real-world images from prototypes reveal that Hyundai is executing a significant design overhaul. This unexpected move underscores the South Korean automaker’s commitment to refining its aesthetics to satisfy even the most demanding markets.
The most striking change on the 2027 Hyundai Santa Fe is the complete removal of the signature H-shaped daytime running lights, a core brand identifier of the current generation. In their place, vertically oriented LED strips with integrated turn signals create a sleek, modern look. The main headlights are now positioned lower, nestled beneath an expanded horizontal grille. Industry experts predict this grille will adopt a bolder, more rugged design reminiscent of previous generations, departing from the robotic aesthetic of the Palisade.
The rear end, which drew mixed reviews on the current model, has also undergone substantial revisions. Hyundai appears to be abandoning the ultra-wide tailgate in favor of a narrower, more practical design. The low-mounted H-shaped taillights will be replaced by slim vertical strips, mirroring the front-end design. This update not only enhances visual appeal but also eliminates the lower auxiliary lights, reducing production costs and repair expenses in the event of rear collisions.
Beyond exterior enhancements, the 2027 Santa Fe’s interior features a more angular steering wheel and a redesigned center display layout.
Insider reports suggest Hyundai may introduce EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) technology to the facelifted Santa Fe, offering a diverse powertrain lineup to cater to a broader range of consumer needs.
The refreshed Hyundai Santa Fe is expected to debut globally by late 2026 or early 2027, with sales commencing shortly after. With its comprehensive interior and exterior upgrades, the 2027 Santa Fe is poised to remain a formidable contender in the mid-size SUV segment across international markets, including Vietnam.
