The Southeast Asian 7-seater SUV market is heating up as detailed information about the Mitsubishi Destinator HEV officially surfaces.

Contrary to earlier speculations of a 1.5L turbocharged engine, the Mitsubishi Destinator HEV will feature a robust 1.6L Full Hybrid powertrain. This shift underscores Mitsubishi’s commitment to optimizing performance and embracing the growing electrification trend in key markets like Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

The Destinator HEV embodies the design philosophy of “Gravitas & Dynamism,” blending a majestic yet dynamic aesthetic. The front fascia commands attention with its signature T-shaped LED positioning lights, reminiscent of the Xforce but infused with the sophistication of the Outlander PHEV. Built on a sturdy monocoque chassis, the SUV boasts a ground clearance of 244 mm, ensuring it effortlessly navigates challenging terrains while delivering a smooth urban ride.

Inside, the cabin offers a spacious environment for seven passengers, featuring three rows of premium perforated leather seats. Practicality is maximized with fully foldable second and third rows, transforming the cargo area into a vast storage space. The user experience is elevated by cutting-edge amenities, including a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch central display, and an 8-speaker Yamaha Dynamic Sound system. A 64-color ambient lighting system and an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold further enhance the modern and user-friendly driving experience.

The Destinator HEV offers five versatile driving modes, catering to various conditions from paved roads to muddy trails. It also incorporates Mitsubishi’s renowned Active Yaw Control (AYC) system, ensuring safer cornering in all scenarios.

Launching first in Indonesia and the Philippines later this year, the Mitsubishi Destinator HEV will subsequently expand to other critical markets, including Thailand and Vietnam, before reaching the Middle East and Africa.
