Within just 24 hours of its announcement, Vingroup’s large-scale practical AI talent training program has received over 1,100 applications—double the maximum capacity of its inaugural cohort.

However, opportunities remain open for a wide range of candidates, as the program accepts applications until February 15th and selects participants based on individual skill assessments. Qualified applicants who are not admitted to the first cohort will have their applications retained and prioritized for subsequent intakes.

According to the announcement, the first cohort is set to enroll a maximum of 500 students. Yet, within nearly a day of the program’s launch, the number of applicants surpassed 1,100 and continues to rise.

A representative from the Admissions Board stated that the application period for the first cohort extends until February 15, 2026, leaving ample opportunity for all candidates. Following this, the board will review applications and conduct skill assessments through an entrance exam to select the most suitable applicants. The program operates on a rolling basis, with qualified candidates retained and prioritized for future cohorts.

Preliminary statistics indicate that approximately 50% of applicants are university graduates. Over 30% are final-year students from universities in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and other provinces. Notably, 5% of applicants hold master’s or doctoral degrees.

In terms of skills, 85% of applicants have prior work or internship experience in information technology, AI, or machine learning. Seventy percent possess proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++. The remainder are primarily office workers from departments like marketing, human resources, and training, with only basic AI knowledge.

Feedback from applicants reveals that 89% chose the program for its focus on practical, hands-on AI training rather than theoretical or simulated exercises.

Beyond the emphasis on “learning by doing,” career advancement is a significant motivator for 85% of applicants. As AI becomes a core skill across industries, many view Vingroup’s program as a catalyst to enhance their expertise, improve job prospects, and build long-term careers in technology.

Many applicants also expressed enthusiasm for learning under the guidance of industry experts and mentors within Vingroup’s professional environment.

The two-year practical AI training program aims to develop up to 20,000 highly skilled AI professionals capable of real-world application. Participants will undergo 12 weeks of training, combining foundational theory with advanced practical exercises. In addition to studying at VinUni, students will engage directly in ongoing AI projects within Vingroup’s technology ecosystem.

Notably, all students are exempt from tuition fees and receive a monthly stipend of 8 million VND throughout the program. Vingroup’s leadership emphasizes that this policy ensures participants can focus on learning and practicing without financial strain during their skill transition or upgrade to AI. High-achieving graduates will be further selected for advanced training and may become engineers, experts, or leaders of future AI projects.

Upon completion, qualified graduates may be formally recruited into technology companies within Vingroup’s ecosystem or pursue opportunities with leading domestic technology firms.

The program is open to individuals with degrees in AI-related or adjacent fields, such as Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology/Computer Science, Data Science/Data Engineering, Cybersecurity/Network Security, Computer Networks and Data Communications, and Information Systems Engineering.

Additionally, the program welcomes candidates from business administration, business analytics, and other science and technology disciplines, provided they have relevant work experience and AI-related certifications.

Following the first cohort, the program will expand continuously, aiming to train up to 20,000 students over the next two years. As Vietnam accelerates digital transformation and develops strategic technology sectors, Vingroup’s initiative is expected to supply high-quality AI talent, fostering sustainable growth within the technology ecosystem in the years ahead.
