According to information on the website of the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam, Honda has registered industrial design protection for a new electric motorcycle model. The image of this electric motorcycle has appeared in Industrial Property Gazette No. 418 Volume A – Volume 2 of January 2023.
From these images, it can be seen that the registered design for the electric motorcycle in Vietnam is none other than the Honda Cub e, which was recently launched in the Chinese market on January 10, 2023. This can be considered as the electric version of the legendary Honda Super Cub that consumers have been eagerly awaiting.
Introduced at an online event along with two other electric motorcycle models, Dax e: and Zoomer e:, the Honda Cub e: targets young customers in China. This electric motorcycle clearly draws design inspiration from the Honda Super Cub but adds modern and contemporary features.
As seen in the registered industrial design images, the Honda Cub e: embodies a simple and tidy design. At the same time, the electric version of the Honda Super Cub comes with a single seat. The single seat of the Honda Cub e: has a triangular design, similar to the type used for the Super Cub.
The Honda Cub e: features larger cast wheels than other conventional electric motorcycles, specifically 17 inches. This is not only a distinctive design feature of the Honda Super Cub series but also enhances the maneuverability for the rider. The front wheel of the motorcycle comes with a disc brake, while the rear wheel has a drum brake.
In addition, the new model from the Honda family is equipped with LED headlights that are both durable and provide increased visibility for the rider at night. Surrounding the LED headlight is a circular LED daytime running light. Meanwhile, the turn signals of the motorcycle are positioned on both sides, near the handlebars.
The Honda Cub e: features a digital instrument cluster with an LCD screen designed to resemble the original Super Cub’s dashboard. This instrument panel allows the rider to easily monitor information thanks to its strong contrast. Additionally, the instrument panel integrates an automatic adjustable backlight that is connected to the headlight switch.
The wide footboard with a steel frame of the Honda Cub e: is accompanied by a specially designed space to house the motorcycle’s battery pack. The Honda Cub e: uses a 48V-20Ah Ternary lithium battery pack weighing only 6.4 kg, allowing the motorcycle to travel a distance of 65 km on a full charge.
Meanwhile, the electric motor of the motorcycle is located on the rear wheel, with a maximum torque of 16 Nm and a top speed limited to 25 km/h. The motorcycle is equipped with pedals for the rider to use when the battery is depleted midway.
Finally, there is the feature of connecting with the user’s smartphone. Through this feature, users can monitor battery capacity, distance traveled, and GPS positioning of the motorcycle through their smartphones.
In the Chinese market, the Honda Cub e: is available in 4 color options: yellow, white, gray, and red. The price of this electric motorcycle in the Chinese market is 5,999 Chinese yuan (about 21 million Vietnamese dong).
In addition to the electric version of the Super Cub, Honda has also registered industrial design protection for a series of other motorcycle models in Vietnam, such as Dream, Scoopy, and U-Go.
