Lamborghini Urus Performante
At the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance exhibition held in the US in August 2022, Lamborghini officially unveiled the high-performance version of the Urus model after 4 years since its initial launch. This is quite a peculiar delay when looking at the previous products of the Italian automaker, usually the high-performance version would be launched 2 years after the standard version is introduced. Lamborghini named this Urus model the Performante, a familiar name but a necessary addition to the Urus model lineup.
Since its debut, the Lamborghini Urus has redefined the high-performance SUV segment, also known as the super SUV, so the launch of the Lamborghini Urus Performante continues to elevate this segment to a new level, competing with the Aston Martin DBX707 even though their power is not the same.
Compared to the standard version, the Lamborghini Urus Performante sports a distinctive exterior that can be easily distinguished by the Performante logo on the side, a completely new carbon bonnet with air vents to enhance the cooling capability for the powerful engine underneath as well as create a visual highlight. The front and rear bumpers and side sills are entirely made of carbon fiber.
The Lamborghini Urus Performante has a larger rear wing to increase downforce by 38%, and it is equipped with super lightweight 22-23 inch rims with titanium bolts and Pirelli P Zero tires specially developed for this super SUV. Finally, the Lamborghini Urus Performante is equipped with the Akrapovic sports exhaust system.
Inside, the Lamborghini Urus Performante welcomes its owners with black Alcantara seats with diamond-shaped stitching, aluminum trim details, and a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel. The steering wheel is also wrapped in Alcantara material. If customers opt for the Dark Package accessory, they can add matte black control buttons. In addition, the 2023 Lamborghini Urus Performante is also equipped with new steel springs, reducing the ground clearance by 20 mm.
Range Rover SV
While the Lamborghini Urus Performante has a sharp and aggressive exterior like other supercars of the brand, the Range Rover SV has a very elegant appearance with a luxurious demeanor, but it does not lag behind when standing next to the Italian super SUV. Of course, the British SUV is larger and longer.
The allure of the Range Rover SV lies in the option to eliminate stopping points, from paint color, wheel set, to the SV Serenity and SV Intrepid design packages. Firstly, there is the exclusive material that includes polished metals, fine ceramics, intricate inlays, along with soft near-aniline leather and environmentally friendly Ultrafabrics fabric. The Range Rover SV features a unique design with a distinctive 5-bar front grille, a lower opening with five aluminium metal blades and a precise full-width execution. This finish is also applied below the rear tailgate, under the spoiler and body side graphics, completed with the laser-etched SV logo. The most recognizable feature of the Range Rover SV model includes the black background oval Land Rover logo on the grille and the white ceramic SV circle badge on the rear door.
Range Rover SV customers can choose from the standard Range Rover color palette or one of the 14 additional colors in the SV Bespoke Premium color palette, including bright and elegant Satin finish colors. For optimizing exterior customizations, the SV Bespoke Match to Sample service allows customers to select any color they desire.
To experience the best, most powerful, and most luxurious features of the Range Rover SV, customers need to spend over 25 billion VND. At this level, the Range Rover SV is equipped with the newly introduced 4.4-liter V8 engine instead of the P400, which uses the 3.0-liter MHEV Ingenium petrol engine.
Powertrain
The “heart” of the Lamborghini Urus Performante is the twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine with a displacement of 4.0 liters, similar to the standard version.
However, this engine generates a maximum power of 657 horsepower and a peak torque of 850 Nm. Compared to the regular Urus, the Lamborghini Urus Performante is 16 horsepower more powerful, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 306 km/h.
On the other hand, the Range Rover SV offers 2 engine options. The first is the P400 model, which uses the 3.0-liter MHEV Ingenium petrol engine, delivering a maximum power of 395 horsepower and a peak torque of 550 Nm, with AWD (All-Wheel Drive) system. The standard price starts from 16.869 billion VND.
If customers are looking for something different and more sophisticated, the Range Rover SV LWB P615, with a price of 25.509 billion VND (nearly 9 billion VND more expensive), would be a very worthy option to consider. At this level, the car uses the 4.4-liter MHEV 8 petrol engine, delivering a maximum power of 607 horsepower and a peak torque of 750 Nm, also with AWD.
Therefore, the Range Rover SV is quite far from the Lamborghini Urus Performante in terms of speed and power.
Choosing Range Rover SV or Lamborghini Urus Performante
Thus, the Range Rover SV and Lamborghini Urus Performante target different segments, but they have the same price when officially distributed in Vietnam, which has made these 2 models come under scrutiny for comparison.
The Range Rover SV leans towards luxury style, with satisfactory speed when required, while the Lamborghini Urus Performante is primarily a speed-oriented super SUV, with the main experience being behind the wheel and not many outstanding features in the rear seats.
Interestingly, 2 Lamborghini Urus Performante have been delivered to customers, and the number of Range Rover SVs brought to Vietnam is also similar. The owners of the 2 Lamborghini Urus Performante have been revealed, though they are low-profile individuals, while the owner of the Range Rover SV is more mysterious. These are the unique styles of wealthy, powerful, and prestigious car owners of Land Rover.
