Advanced Safety Features to be Included in the Future Mitsubishi Xforce

With the arrival of the Mitsubishi Xforce, the compact SUV segment is becoming increasingly competitive. This latest SUV catches the eye with its sleek interior design and tough off-road aesthetic. However, it falls short when it comes to incorporating advanced safety technology.

Currently, the Mitsubishi Xforce is equipped with a standard safety package that includes 6 airbags, blind spot warning (BSW), and rear cross traffic alert (RCTA). However, rival models like the Honda HR-V offer a more comprehensive advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that includes features like adaptive cruise control (ACC) and lane keeping assist (LKA). Nevertheless, Mitsubishi acknowledges the importance of these advanced safety features.

In an interview at the 2023 Gaikindo International Auto Show (GIIAS) in Indonesia, Mr. Masahiro Ito, the Product Specialist Director of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), stated that they are considering adding more ADAS features in the future. While they already have BSW and RCTA, they plan to introduce additional features at a later time.

In the Indonesian market, the 2024 Mitsubishi Xforce comes in two versions: the standard Exceed CVT starting at 382.5 million Rupiah and the high-end Ultimate CVT starting at 419.1 million Rupiah, which translates to approximately 593 million and 650 million VND respectively. When the Xforce becomes available in Vietnam, it is expected to be priced around 700-800 million VND.

The 2024 Mitsubishi Xforce features a “Smooth and Rugged” design concept, combining an elegant exterior and a strong SUV character, making it suitable for both urban and off-road driving in the ASEAN region.

The front grille follows the sporty Dynamic Shield style, while the T-shaped daytime running lights incorporate LED positioning lights in an L-shaped pattern to emphasize the design. Similarly, the T-shaped rear lights add stability and width to the vehicle’s body.

The Xforce boasts the highest ground clearance in its segment (222 mm) and is equipped with 18-inch wheels and large diameter tires to enhance stability on rough roads.

The central control panel adopts a horizontal axis design concept, providing a wider field of vision in front. The design extends to both sides, creating a spacious feeling inside the cabin.

The interior prioritizes practicality, featuring a large 12.3-inch infotainment screen and an 8-inch digital information display with an intuitive interface.

For the first time, the Xforce is equipped with the Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium sound system, a collaboration between Mitsubishi Motors and Yamaha. This system includes eight speakers, including tweeters on both sides of the A-pillar, front door woofers, and dual-coaxial speakers in the rear doors.

Powering the Xforce is a 1.5L, 4-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power of 105 PS and a maximum torque of 141 Nm, paired with a CVT transmission.

Mitsubishi Motors has implemented four-wheel control technology, along with Active Yaw Control (AYC), to optimize the performance of the 2WD front-wheel drive Xforce. The four driving modes (Normal Road, Slippery Road, Gravel Road, Muddy Road) allow drivers to select the appropriate mode based on road conditions, providing a reassuring driving experience.

The Slippery Road mode, specifically designed to improve stability on wet or flooded surfaces, minimizes the risk of skidding and ensures a safer drive.
