BYD’s new pickup truck is expected to be primarily designed for overseas markets. The teaser image, which features English text instead of Chinese characters, suggests this. BYD has only revealed that the Shark will be equipped with DMO technology. However, we have already seen real-world images of the BYD Shark in Mexico.

The design of this model is heavily inspired by the Ford Ranger and Ford F-150 Lightning, with C-shaped LED headlights and a horizontal grille running from left to right with a large BYD logo in the middle.

The rear has LED taillights that follow the characteristic lines of a pickup truck. But it is reinforced by an LED BAR running along the rear bumper from left to right. The C-pillar on the body uses a black strip that continues the line of the side window.

The interior of the vehicle features a large 15.6-inch central screen that is expected to have a vertical rotation function, similar to other BYD models. The center console is designed with an armrest in the middle for both the driver and front passenger. The interior is decorated with orange stripes and orange stitching. There are physical buttons and knobs that are separate from the screen.

The BYD pickup is expected to be powered by the DM-i Plug-in Hybrid powertrain, which combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with two electric motors, one in the front and one in the rear. When the engine works together with the electric motors, the maximum power output is 496 PS, all-wheel drive, AWD, and it can be plugged in to charge. The rear suspension, as seen in the leaked images, is an independent Multi-Link coil spring, not a leaf spring.

Detailed specifications of the BYD Shark will be announced at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show.
