A recent video circulating on social media has captured the attention of many. The footage showcases a million-dollar Koenigsegg Regera super car at the Hoa Lư border gate in Bình Phước province, en route to Cambodia. According to the uploader, the Regera was awaiting clearance to cross into the neighboring country.
Interestingly, less than two weeks after returning to Vietnam from Cambodia to attend a supercar event, the same Koenigsegg Regera, owned by businessman Hoàng Kim Khánh, was spotted again at the Hoa Lư border gate, this time heading back to Cambodia.
Why does this multi-million-dollar supercar frequently travel between Vietnam and Cambodia? Well, it bears a Cambodian license plate. Specifically, the car was registered in Cambodia two years ago, and its owner, Hoàng Kim Khánh, a businessman from Hải Dương province, currently resides and works in Ho Chi Minh City.
This particular Koenigsegg Regera, named after its owner, retailed for $2.9 million at the dealership, a full $1 million more than the starting price advertised by the manufacturer. The premium was due to various add-ons and options, one of which was the distinctive red carbon fiber finish. It is estimated that the total cost to get this car on the road in Cambodia, including all taxes and fees, would be less than 100 billion VND.
Just two months after its initial entry into Vietnam, the Koenigsegg Regera experienced a significant malfunction in its battery and electrical system, rendering it inoperable. As a result, the owner had to temporarily export the supercar back to Sweden for repairs before re-importing it to Cambodia.
The Koenigsegg Regera is equipped with a hybrid powertrain that combines a 5.0-liter V8 biturbo engine with three electric motors. This Swedish-made supercar boasts over 1,500 horsepower and delivers a staggering 2,000 Nm of torque.
Hoàng Kim Khánh’s Koenigsegg Regera is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 400 km/h. Additionally, it can generate downforce of up to 450 kg at speeds of 250 km/h, keeping it firmly planted on the road.
