Honda Vietnam recently announced a voluntary recall for the Africa Twin model, imported directly from Japan and officially distributed through the Honda DreamWing Big Bike dealerships. The recall aims to update the software to address an issue with the wheel lift control system not functioning as designed.

In rare cases, this issue could cause the Honda Africa Twin to lose balance during operation. So far, there have been no reports of any impact on the vehicle’s performance or safety.

Here are the details of the affected products:

Cause and Symptoms: The issue occurs when the vehicle switches between two states:

Wheelie: The front wheel is not in contact with the ground.

No Wheelie: Both wheels are in contact with the ground.

The symptom is that the engine torque is not properly adjusted during the transition between these two states, leading to unstable operation. The root cause is attributed to inappropriate data settings in the Engine Control Module (ECM), resulting in inaccurate processing during the transition.

Remedy: Starting from December 20, 2024, through the Customer Service department, HVN will invite affected customers to bring their vehicles to the authorized Honda DreamWing dealerships by phone and/or email or other means of contact for a free software update and inspection.

Repair Time: The total expected average time for the repair is 24 minutes per vehicle.

Cost: Honda Vietnam will bear all costs for the inspection and software update for the affected vehicles.
