In December 2024, McLaren Vietnam’s official dealership unveiled the McLaren Artura Spider, a stunning open-top supercar, to Vietnamese elite. The vehicle’s unique purple hue, described as “chameleon-like,” captivated attendees, with some speculating its ability to shift shades under different lighting.
Recently, this McLaren Artura Spider was spotted cruising the streets, revealing its coveted license plate, 51L-06789, auctioned for 125 million VND.

The McLaren Artura Spider’s exterior boasts a mesmerizing purple paint job, and its retractable hardtop operates in just 11 seconds. While the official price remains undisclosed, the coupe variant starts at 14.69 billion VND, excluding optional extras and on-road costs. Internationally, the Spider commands a premium of approximately 500 million VND over the coupe.
Built on McLaren’s Carbon Lightweight Architecture, the Artura Spider’s carbon fiber chassis ensures structural rigidity despite the convertible design. Weighing just 1,457 kg—a mere 61 kg more than the coupe—it claims the title of the lightest supercar in its class.

Powering the Artura Spider is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined 690 horsepower—19 more than the coupe—and 722 Nm of torque. Rear-wheel drive enables a 0–100 km/h sprint in 3 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 8.4 seconds, and 0–300 km/h in 21.6 seconds, with a top speed of 330 km/h.
The 8-speed SSG automatic transmission features a 25% faster shift time, while the electric motor handles reverse gear duties—a first for McLaren. A 7.4 kWh battery allows up to 35 km of electric-only driving. Four driving modes—Comfort, Sport, Track, and Electric (default)—tailor performance to any scenario.
The McLaren Artura Spider competes directly with the Ferrari 296 GTS, available in Vietnam for over two years with a starting price of 23 billion VND. Three units have already been delivered, setting the stage for a thrilling rivalry in the open-top supercar segment.
