Ferrari 488 GTB in Dong Nai Changes License Plate Again: Triple 9s for $1,700 Not Enough, Upgraded to Quad 9s for Over $17,000

Previously, the license plate of this Ferrari 488 GTB featured a stunning triplet of 9s. Now, the owner has elevated it to a quadruple 9 plate, with the prefix "2" indicating it’s the second registration change. This upgrade came at a cost, as the two auctioned plates totaled a staggering 460 million VND.

Recently, a Ferrari 488 GTB owned by a businessman from Dong Nai was spotted cruising the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, quickly drawing attention due to its striking license plate, 60B-299.99.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that this license plate was won through an auction. Interestingly, the same Ferrari 488 GTB had previously sported another auction-won plate, 60K-51.999, featuring a triplet of nines, known as “tam hoa 9,” which is considered highly desirable.

This marks the second time the Ferrari 488 GTB has changed its auction-won license plate, in addition to the initial random plate selection. This truly demonstrates the owner’s passion for desirable numbers.

While the previous plate, featuring a triplet of nines, was already quite attractive, the owner was not fully satisfied. This time, they decided to upgrade to a quartet of nines, with a leading digit of 2, indicating the car has undergone two auction plate changes, totaling a cost of 460 million VND.

The license plate 60B-29999 was auctioned for a staggering 420 million VND, leaving little room for debate or further changes, unless the owner aims for a full set of five nines.

The Ferrari 488 GTB holds a special place among supercars, marking the end of the naturally aspirated V8 era of the 458 and transitioning to a twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

Specifically, the Ferrari 488 GTB is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine, producing 661 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 760 Nm at 3,000 rpm.

This supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds, reaching a top speed of over 330 km/h.
