The adventure motorcycle group under 500 cc in Vietnam has more options, priced below 200 million VND.

Adventure motorcycles are designed for customers who enjoy long-distance travel, thanks to their versatile performance in various terrains and comfortable riding positions. In the price range of 200 million VND, there are quite a few adventure motorcycles available in Vietnam, ranging from 300 cc to 500 cc, suitable for beginners.

KTM 390 Adventure (236 million VND)

The KTM 390 Adventure 2022 was recently launched in the Vietnamese market in September. The bike is priced at 236 million VND, an increase of 61 million VND compared to the previous model. It is also the most expensive bike in the adventure group under 500 cc.

Notable features of the KTM 390 Adventure 2022 include a 5-inch TFT speedometer displaying information on speed, mileage, and various bike systems. There is a GPS navigation system mount on top and a 12V USB charging port below. The fuel tank of the 390 Adventure has a capacity of 14.5 liters.

The KTM 390 Adventure has undergone upgrades to improve the riding experience. The seat height has been lowered to 830 mm, making it more suitable for Vietnamese riders. In the 2020 model, the seat height was 855 mm. The weight of the bike remains at 158 kg, making it the lightest in the adventure group under 500 cc.

In terms of technology, the 2022 390 Adventure features a two-way quickshifter as an optional addition, Bosch 9.1 ABS on both wheels, cornering ABS, MTC traction control, and directional guidance displayed on the speedometer. In addition, the KTM 390 Adventure 2022 is equipped with two riding modes: Street and Offroad.

The KTM 390 Adventure 2022 is still equipped with a single-cylinder 373 cc engine, producing 43 horsepower and 37 Nm of torque, with a 6-speed manual transmission and a slip-assist clutch. The advantages of the KTM 390 Adventure lie in its beautiful design, advanced technology, compact and flexible body. However, the high price remains a barrier for this model.

Honda CB500X (193.79 million VND)

In September, Honda introduced the upgraded 2022 version of the CB500X. The bike is equipped with inverted Showa 41 mm SFF-BP front forks.

Compared to the 2021 version that used a single disc brake, the new version features dual disc brakes with a diameter of 296 mm and two-piston calipers. The fuel tank capacity of this adventure model has also been increased by 0.2 liters to 17.7 liters. The seat height has been raised by 4 mm to 834 mm.

The 2022 Honda CB500X continues to be equipped with a twin-cylinder 471 cc liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 47 horsepower at 8,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The bike also features 2-channel ABS, a slipper clutch, and anti-lock braking system to enhance performance during gear shifts.

The 2022 Honda CB500X is priced at an estimated 193.79 million VND. This is considered a competitive price, lower than the KTM 390 Adventure, despite having a larger engine displacement. The bike is targeted at the 300 cc adventure motorcycle segment. However, the design and equipped features are not too impressive.

Kawasaki Versys-X 300 (145.4 million VND)

Appearing on the market for 5 years since its first introduction in 2017, the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 has not made a strong impression. In 2020, the bike underwent a major upgrade to improve its competitiveness.

Compared to its direct competitor, the KTM 390 Adventure, the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 has a less attractive appearance. The front suspension is an inverted fork with a 130 mm travel. The front brake uses a Nissin 2-piston caliper combined with a 290 mm diameter disc brake.

The combined analog and digital speedometer display looks quite simple. The bike is still equipped with a twin-cylinder 296 cc liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 39.3 horsepower at 11,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 25.7 Nm at 10,000 rpm.

The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 comes in two versions: City and Touring, with prices of 145.4 million VND and 163.1 million VND, respectively. These are considered affordable prices, suitable for beginners. However, the drawbacks of this model lie in its less impressive design and basic features.

Royal Enfield Himalayan (143-149 million VND)

Introduced to Vietnam in 2018, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is a rare adventure model in the 200-million VND price range with a classic design. The Himalayan retains the adventure bike features such as spoke wheels, windshield, protective frame, and rear luggage carriers.

Previously, this bike was priced at 132 million VND. After temporarily withdrawing from the market and reintroducing in 2022, the Himalayan is still available but at a higher price, ranging from 143 to 149 million VND. However, this price range is still the lowest among adventure bikes under 500 cc.

The power of the Royal Enfield Himalayan comes from a single-cylinder 411 cc air-cooled engine, producing 24.5 horsepower and 32 Nm of torque, with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Royal Enfield Himalayan is equipped with front telescopic suspension and rear coil springs.

The competitive advantage of the Himalayan lies in its affordable price. However, the bike is heavy (191 kg) and the engine lacks power.

Royal Enfield Scram 411 (140 million VND)

The Royal Enfield Scram 411 is the latest product from the brand in the Vietnamese market. Despite sharing the same engine, the Scram 411 is positioned by Royal Enfield as an adventure model below the Himalayan.

Unlike the Himalayan, the Scram 411 has a Scrambler-inspired design, although it is still considered an adventure bike. The features on this model also have a classic style, such as a halogen headlight, analog round meter combined with a small single-color screen.

The Scram 411 is equipped with a single-cylinder air-cooled 411 cc engine. This engine produces 24.3 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 32 Nm at 4,250 rpm. The bike uses a 5-speed manual transmission and a 2-channel ABS braking system.

The Royal Enfield Scram 411 is expected to be priced at around 140 million VND, slightly lower than the Himalayan. In the 300-400 cc adventure motorcycle segment, the Scram 411 has the advantage in terms of price and engine displacement compared to the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 (145.4 million VND) or KTM 390 Adventure (236 million VND). However, the bike’s features are not too impressive, and the engine lacks power.
