Kia Sonet has officially launched an upgraded version of the mid-life cycle in the Indian market in December last year. At the beginning of this year, these A-segment SUVs were priced and sold at dealerships.

In the Indian market, the 2024 Kia Sonet has a total of 7 variants, including HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+ and X-Line. Among them, the standard HTE version has a price of only 799,000 Rupee (about 235 million VND). Correspondingly, the equipment at this price is relatively poor. The close-up video of the standard 2024 Kia Sonet at the dealership clearly shows that.

Usually, the standard version of a vehicle will have a considerably different exterior design compared to the premium version. However, the standard 2024 Kia Sonet still carries a relatively neat exterior design and does not feel too cheap.

Specifically, the standard version of this A-segment SUV still retains the “tiger nose” grille, new LED daylight running lights and tail lights, inspired by the star map design similar to the premium version. In addition, there is a thick silver trim on the front/rear bumper, bringing a sporty look to this small urban SUV.

Of course, the standard 2024 Kia Sonet is also missing some modern exterior features compared to the premium version. The car only uses Halogen headlights instead of LED headlights, power-adjusted rearview mirror…

… and 15-inch steel rims with silver hubcaps. Meanwhile, the premium version of this model is equipped with 16-inch dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels.

In addition, this car also has turn signals and rear lights in the form of Halogen, along with turn signal lights on the front fenders instead of integrated into the rearview mirror trim.

Inside the car, the standard 2024 Kia Sonet is only equipped with black interior color with synthetic leather seats. To make the interior less boring, Kia has added silver accents inside the car such as the air vent trim, steering wheel, and central control cluster.

In front of the driver is a 3-spoke power-adjustable steering wheel with integrated buttons…

… along with a 4.2-inch meter cluster.

In addition, this car has USB Type C ports for both rows of seats and a 12V charging port.

The car’s air conditioning is manually adjustable with air vents for the rear seats. The rear windows are also manually adjusted instead of power-adjusted.

Of course, the cheapest 2024 Kia Sonet does not have a touchscreen center display. Customers can choose to add an external 10.25-inch touchscreen for the car.

The cheapest version of this A-segment SUV also lacks smart key and push-button start.

Similar to the equipment, the safety features of the standard 2024 Kia Sonet are quite basic with 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, ESC, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, and tire pressure monitoring.

Underneath the hood of the standard 2024 Kia Sonet are 2 engine options. The first one is a 1.2L naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine with a maximum power of 83 hp. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The second one is a 1.5L 4-cylinder diesel engine with a maximum power of 116 hp. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The introduction of the upgraded version promises to help the Kia Sonet improve its sales in the Indian market. In December 2023, this model was surpassed by competitors such as the Tata Nexon, Tata Punch, Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Suzuki Fronx.
